Whats up with these things? Anybody got a "Brussel Sprouts" recipe'? Kinda like the jailed family member, people know - but no one talks about it.

I love Brussell sprouts. Cut them in half, render some chopped bacon or better yet, pancetta, put the Brussel sprouts cut side down in the rendered bacon fat until they get brown, then toss them a few times, and put the skillet in the oven until they are tender. Take them out, toss in a pat of butter or two and season to taste. You can also put a little siracha in at the end, and you can blanch them first to make sure they cook enough, prior to browning.

Cut them in half, toss in olive oil, salt and pepper, maybe a little lemon juice once they're done.

That sounds like a winner Cool.

When I was a kid in grade school, they'd serve these. Boiled and bland.... no one, and i mean no one, would eat them.

I do them pretty much like this but I add a .25 cup of chicken stock in the pan instead of blanching them. I also just put them in a skillet and put it on the offside of my pit and close the lid.

Do cauliflower like this as well.

I was thinking cauliflower and perhaps even broccoli would be good like this!

We called em elephant buggers in grade school. Boiled and bland was just horrible. Kinda like beets, i didn't think anyone really ate them?

I love broussel sprouts.

I cut them in half with some cauliflower, toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary and a few panko bread crumbs and pop them in the oven for a bit.

I used to not like either of these veggies but someone made them like this and now I love them

I wouldn't eat them as a kid. Mainly on account of remembering how Rudy Huxtable so vigorously refused to eat them and I figured they had to be really nasty. Once I growed up I tried them and found out they were pretty damn good.

Brussels sprouts are one of a gazillion things I wouldn't think of touching as a child. Now, I enjoy them. You simply have to prepare them, properly. They can be bitter if you don't remove the outer leaves or I find this to be so. I love them roasted and toward the end of roasting, splash some balsamic vinegar on them and let it go a bit in the oven.

Tons of vegetables are great, roasted. I roasted cauliflower a few weeks ago and then made a bisque with it. Delicious soup.

I was reading about roasting Kale leaves, recently. Supposedly, they come out like chips. I haven't tried it, but it sounded interesting.

I wouldn't touch beets, either, but I will now, especially roasted or grilled.

Not as much as I'd like to since I live alone and it also gets overshadowed by all the baking.
