Any server, including take out people, who are paid that $2 an hour shite must claim 8% of their SALES as taxable income
So 8% of a 70$ check is 5.60$ or so. The chick basically paid 2.60 to hand him his bag.
really? she pays 100% income tax rate on her projected tips?

Don't rain on our parade!
It usually takes Red Lobster or Olive Garden to get to 8 pages!

And if you think nothing goes into setting up the to go order than you've never done it. Restaurants generally rotate the take out sever since they'll generally get screwed on tips
I'm not telling anyone what to do but at least know what the person is responsible for before spouting off dumb shite
And if you don't want to ever tip than all restaurants should increase their prices by 15-20% and make servers the reciepent of that amount but is rather have the ability to not tip on bad service
Im pretty sure the person CHOSE TO WORK THERE AND PUT THEIR SELF IN THAT PARTICULAR SITUATION. If you bitch about not getting a tip for putting food in a big and handing it to someone, find another source of income.

Am I the only one who feels awkward when the cashier at a restaurant hands you a receipt to sign while getting an order to go? I feel like they're eyeballing me into leaving them a tip.
Yep, that's why I do just about the same thing that brees did.

I was posting in a hurry, it's a FICA deal which wasnt really my point
My point was the ppl saying tip nothing don't know what the hell they are talking about. I busted my butt in college waiting tables, some folks would gain some perspective by doing the same
Off soap box

I tip 2 or 3 on take out orders no matter what it costs, so I have no problem with his tip. I wouldn't have a problem with it if he had eaten in either. That's his money and his call! Fckem if they can't take a joke.

It's his choice and no one else's business.
Does anyone tip on takeouts from McD's, Burger King, etc.? There's no service being provided. Wait staff gets paid $2.15 per hour plus tips. The other employees receive a standard wage.
I'd fire the idiot worker that posted this.

Sometimes I do. If it is a mom and pop place I go to or a bar and grill kind of place where I'm ordering and getting the food from the bartender.
I can see this, although most of the time (if I do tip carry out), I'll just dump a little bit in the tip jars off to the side.

What he makes has no bearing on how much he tips.

He gave $3 more than I would have given for a takeout order. He truly is a Saints

People sure do know what to occupy their time with. If only food drew as much attention as a 3 dollar tip.

Agree. Being someone who works the counter a lot and not being paid min wage, I certainly appreciate bigger tips.. But I personally rarely leave any more than $5 for a takeout order.
That said, I am never ordering for more two people so I can't say what I'd do for a large one.
I never GAF if someone tips on Togo orders unless its someone ordering for 20 of their employees and they want everything labeled with first names on the boxes.. All bagged separately.. And then they send one person in with 20 people's forms of payments.

Do you tip at McDonalds, etc when they hand you the bag at the window?

McDonald's doesn't have a tip line item on the bill. I'm fairly certain they would not accept a tip if you offered one.
There is a difference between to go at an actual restaurant and to go at a fast food restaurant. It is understood you do not tip at fast food places, that is one of their selling points.
If I was at Jersey Mikes or a place similar that does have a tip line on the bill I would probably leave $1, which is 10% on a $10 bill. If I ordered $70 at Jersey Mikes I would leave more.
