Any hidden gems that serve a great breakfast in the Government St, Florida Blvd or DT area? Gotta take 3 friends 8:00 am tomorrow to breakfast. Thanks!

There's a breakfast plate place in Main Street Market that's really good. Nice and cheap too.

Cafe Mimi (what used to be Harrington’s) supposedly makes killer breakfast biscuits. They had a cult following when they operated out of a gas station in Livingston Parish.

Tried Ruby Slipper for first time today. Not worth a return trip.

They may have some good recipes, but the operation and attention to detail is so bad that it's hard to know for sure.

Sticky floors at the hostess station. Waitress brought us cups of cold tea instead of hot coffee. That's a shock to the tastebuds. Then when we finally got coffee, it was barely warm and weak. They advertise it as French Truck coffee, but it made Waffle House coffee seem good by comparison. French Truck needs to tighten them up or take their product off of the menu.

Got 2 pancakes, 1 done right, one overcooked, neither one warm enough to melt butter. Same with the bacon, one slice overcooked, one slice undercooked. Apparently no quality control in the kitchen.

Got 2 different Benedicts, pork was tasty. Chicken was dried out.

Maybe it was a bad day. We arrived when the early lunch crowd was showing up and they were pretty busy. But the variety of problems with service and consistency don't make me believe that it's worth another try.

The ruby slipper is probably the most overrated piece of bullcrap, unless you like your breakfast dehydrated.

This makes more sense when I read it aloud while mouth-breathing with a slack jaw.

No way you could touch their lunch menu, their lunch is incredible. Their breakfast isn't crazy good but its good, they make one hell of a pancake.
