Just me, but I would probably just hit up a CFA or Canes en route. Thomasville Rd in Tallahasse has a nice park about 2 miles S of I-10. Good place for a brief picnic and let 'em burn off some energy.
I don't care for Disney but I hope you enjoy your trip and time with your family. It's goes by fast.
Pro tip: FL is a great state with great beaches and springs. Take your family to Pass-a-Grille Beach and watch a spectacular sunset from the Hurricane restaurant one evening.

I spent a few weeks at another of our company’s plants in Gainesville a few years ago and found a local chain of Cuban restaurants called Mi Apa. Very very good. If I ever go back to Gainesville, it will be my first stop. Highly recommend for lunch. The chicken soup and the Cuban sandwiches (a few variations) are great.
