Taking my family on vaca next week to Branson. We'll probably eat out 3-4 times other than the typical theme park, etc. Any suggestions on some go-to places? Hole in the walls?

Not in Branson but the Big Cedar Lodge has a pretty good restaurant. We go to Branson when LSU plays Arkansas in Little Rock. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Big Cedar several times. It is just off the main highway a few miles south of Branson.

It's a pretty grim scene in Branson. Big Cedar has a few good restaurants. A lot of people like Outback which is different than the chain. Otherwise it's kind of crap v

We ate breakfast here the last time we were in Branson; really close to Silver Dollar City. It was very good, but there was a pretty big line when we went so be aware if you are taking little ones who won't do well waiting.

^^^^^

This is the correct answer.

(Full disclosure: I worked in Branson in '95 and swore never to return.)

Yakov's Dinner Adventure at Yakov Smirnoff Theater. The trays are magnetic so nothing spills while watching super great entertainment!

It's generally a bad sign when the best thing you have to say about a dining establishment is their trays are magnetic.

For him and his kids, yes. Never for you. Your sensitive palate would never survive, but the unwashed masses like me and some others who creep into tis place to be around those better than us do keep these places in business.

Some day when no one is watching, slip into a steak and shake and see how the lower 1/3 lives.

the go to Lone star and have a Miller light and a handful of roasted peanuts.

If you want to watch the soccer moms, try Panera Bread. They don't mind if you gawk at them as they park their ford's and eat a salad.

After trying them in that order, you should be able to at least work up the courage to drive through Ruby Tuesday's lot.

The guy is taking his kids to Silver Dollar City to ride the lost silver mine roller coaster and then to the Bald Knobber's Review. I think he can handle a burger waffle fry and strawberry milkshake at Steak and Shake. We did the very same with our kids and survived with minimal scarring. Even went to the outlet mall and survived.

Of course, I was military trained to survive crashing in the jungle, so I had that going for me.
