Another treat that closed to early Sigmunds Deli in the old Rebel shopping center on Florida. I had my first Reuben in my life at that place. It is a good thing that not many places offer them, I would die of corned beef and Kraut overdose for sure.

the original Sicily's pizza on Bluebonnet and I think Sherwood. I thought the pizza was great when I was a kid, I have no idea if it actually was though.

Lymans place was very decent food on the cheap for both students and the ghetto crowd to consume. It is a pity that he got caught doing something criminal in nature.

The Caterie- half price apps and $1.25 beers on friday

Beers were always that price (apps only on Friday)...but, they were $1 for a long time first.

You're kidding, right?
quote:

Jack Sabin's was the see-and-be-seen steak- house of the 1970s and early 1980s, the Ruth's Chris of its day, where local politicos and those who hoped to influence them went to hatch their deals over meals of martinis and sirloin strip. The eponymous owner was a colorful character in his own right, known for his signature vest and also for occasionally serenading patrons. Like many Airline Highway eateries at the time, Sabin's closed in the mid-1980s. It gave way to a Chinese buffet restaurant that has since also closed.
