Any tips on finding some? Coworker said his grandpa always found them in Tennessee at small shops.

That 10 dutch is nice

Is that the hinged.chicken fryer or just the deep set with a lid? Either way, it is a more rare piece.

Yes, hinged fryer.

I’m planning on keeping the #10 and one of the regular skillets, selling the rest to get my two for free.

I paid $650 for the entire lot.

$175 each should be fairly easy, but you will need to provide about 10 pics per piece. As you know, people will want to see how level (wobble/no wobble), as well as indications of smoothness/pits/flaked seasoning/etc.

In my 20 years of garage sales, I’ve only bought a couple pieces, and only seen a few. Most people hold onto the shite. It’s very high quality.

The guy I bought these from has a huge collection, and is now focusing on Wagner and Lodge.
I didn’t realize Lodge is the oldest of the three companies.
He was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot. He says everyone looks for Griswold, but pass on Wagner and Lodge, thinking it’s new.

There’s 14 pieces, including the lids and trivets. If I keep four, sell the rest for at least $65 a piece ($130 a set) I get mine for free. At least get me close, where I get mine for next to nothing. They are all pretty mint except the #10. It has a small wave (hump) on the bottom. It doesn’t wobble but you can see it. I’m keeping that one anyway.

I've seen tons in flea markets and antique shops over the years. Still see a lot at really good prices.

Learn how to clean and season old pieces and you'll have a collection in short order.

Yessir. As I mentioned in another recent thread, I find about 2 a month.

I passed on a #6 Wagner and a #7 SK lodge last Saturday because the checkout line at the thrift store was too long and I wanted to get home before the game. $10 each. Went back Sunday and they were gone.

I'm not brand loyal, just want some antique cast iron. I'd be interested in a couple if you want to message me at the instagram handle in my signature. I'm never lucky enough to run across any, nor do I have time to hit up the thrift stores lol.

For those that know, how would I identify some older stuff I got from my grandmothers? I have a flat skillet with an 8S stamped on the bottom by the handle. And another small cornbread skilled with a 5Y on the bottom.

Please take some pictures, and some of us can give you some ideas.

If you are just looking for a good heirloom piece to cook with, there are BSR (Birmingham Stove and Range) pieces out there that are much less. They are not as collectible and some have no markings, but they work fine.
It's not hard to strip and old piece (or a new, pre-seasoned piece) and season it your liking. I've redone a couple of newer Lodge pieces, but I like the older BSR pans better because they are lighter.

Nice Griswold collection though. You got some great pieces.

This can help you get started in identifying an old piece:
