You've got good taste, my friend. In Cambridge, I'd recommend Alden & Harlow, the Harvest (not as stuffy as it looks), and Shepard (if you're a big-time foodie).
Going to the Baseball Tavern for Saturday's game? I've never been, but I know a lot of Ranters say it's worth it.

It's worth it, but I won't be there this weekend. Be prepared - it should be a packed house because we share the bar with Wisconsin.....

I agree with this, the Harpoon tour rocks! But, it can get really busy too, depending on the day of the week, so get a reservation early. The taproom is huge, but it still fills up quickly.

You can make a reservation for the harpoon brewery tour? Even just for two people?
And I had planned to visit the Sam Adams brewery, just to see a larger scale operation. But, the smaller operations seem to be the better bet, based on the opinions here.

Harpoon is anything but a small brewery. It's rather large and it's much easier to get to than Sam Adams. And yes you can reserve tickets for the tour for just two people.

My boss is an Italian from the north end, we eat at Strega everytime we are up there.
I've also eaten at Neptune and Union. Union is just nostalgia, don't remember anything special

Really? Man, I'm 3 for 3 there, but I'm sorta getting into the small plates/sharing thing -- which I know isn't for everyone.
Baseball Tavern is out. I'll go for a less intense game, when I'll be more into having a few drinks. Saturday's game means too much.

No, I love small plates. Toro is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I just found the service mediocre and the food very underwhelming.
But again, I seem to be in the minority. So perhaps I hit them on a bad night.

Oh definitely get a bunch of things. We had johnny cakes, these raw scallops smothered in some citrus sauce that was AWESOME.

I liked Cambridge Brewing Company. Some interesting beers and pretty good food in my opinion. I wasn't sure if I'd care for their gruit beer, but it was awesome.
Also, if you want to get drunk and try a lobster roll, Harpoon Brewery is right down the street from Yankee Lobster Company, which is going to be a slightly less expensive than Neptune's hot lobster roll.
