Except they were always booked and the lack of revenue wasn’t the reason it closed according to people in the know.

why did it close?

Restaurants operating in the black don’t generally shut their doors. One of these joints that are proud thatthey pay a living wage and source great ingredients. Gets expensive

And most delivery is priced ~20% higher to cover the cost of the service. Margins are the same

transferred well when I picked up multiple times before the takeout ban.

They had multiple complaints & addressed it on social media as to why they stopped. Was getting soggy & oily

If they were always packed, and couldn't afford to pay employees week to week, then raise prices. It really is that simple. You either increase margins, or increase volume. And by them not being open for lunch, or twice a week, or doing takeout - that really only leaves increasing margins.

Let your consumers decided whether you'll be successful or not.

It wasn't a money issue. They didn't even try. They just wanted to do something else, despite what they've said publicly.

They didn't know how to be profitable. Happens all the time in lots of business settings.

I know some fantastic tractor drivers that don't know shite about running multi-million dollar farming operations...but yet they try. For a while.

Would be cool to see Get Your Mom and Dim Sum take it over.

Rent has to be high as possible right there.

Not nearly as big a loss but the place that replaced Auction House already closed too after only a few months. Not to mention Que Rico and Cho Thai.. and we’re still months from summer.

I haven't been in years, but that place was good. Unfortunate.

Cho Thai closed? Only went once. Upscale thai just doesn't do it for me.

Good to see them moving on the Italian place across from La Boulangerie. And Cavan sounds like it is finally ready to revamp and open.

The Hall on Mag? Good riddance. Legit one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in the city.

Yes. I went there once. I knew it wouldn’t last. Bad concept, but I felt bad for them.

We went shortly after they opened, so I chalked some things up to them working out the kinks but I also doubted the concept could work. No one is looking to have Japanese and Mexican and Italian all in one meal

On top of that, don’t think our waitress ever waited a table in her life, food came out shortly after apps, a $13 cocktail pour was maybe 6oz.

I’d have been curious if location hurt. Larger space and/or, lower rent could have reset the equation a bit on a cost per sq ft instead of just looking at food costs. Was always packed.

and they had so many power/water/general infrastructure and a couple vandalism issues.

Though talk of internal strife makes sense. And buying out a partner could really jack up cash on hand
