+1, love the milk, it is clearly better than the others, and I really wanted to like the ice cream, shite, it is made just a few miles from the house, but just never able to find a flavor I liked, and the local store had the pints on sale for a buck a piece so I bought several flavors and realized it is not the taste, but the texture I don't care for. Ben And Jerrys is my go to (even though they are a bunch of left wing nut jobs, i like their ice cream)

I've really never liked Ben and Jerry's that much. I am also white trash, as I have always like Blue Bell as well. If I'm eating ice cream these days though, its because I'm eating out. I've had some amazing house-made ice creams in nola the past few months.

No doubt. Small batch with awesome ingredients is the way to go.

Blue Bell is simply the smoothest & creamiest over the ones you listed. It has HFCS btu also has sugar too. Eating some right now.
I've tried NOLA Ice Cream Co's Ponchatoula Strawberry over here in Houston. A pint set me back close to 7 bucks though.
I think Ben & Jerry's Phish Food is my all time favorite ice cream though.
Just not a fan of Haagen Daazs.

quote:No, it isn't. Blue Bell isn't bad for mass produced ice cream. It's great for floats and shite like that, but if I want ice cream, I'm with glassman, I'm going with haagen Daazs, or the earth peeps from Vermont. Actually, with summertime around the corner, I'll be making my own ice cream.

Not even close. Sorry CDAWG. Not even close. The butterfat ratio is very low. It is easily felt on the tongue.

haagen Daazs and Ben & Jerry's isnt' mass produced? Blue Bell is still basically a mom & pop with beign available more regionally than those others you listed. And it's popular b/c it's taste good.
I listed Ben & Jerry's as my favorite and I can tell you that it's not smoother than anything Blue Bell produces.

Hate to tell you are the one who's wrong. Especially over the ones you listed. You need to go do another taste test and then go to teh Blue Bell creamery over here in Brenham and let them tell you are too.

Lester knows his shite about a lot of things for sure. Food, not so much. Not crushing on him, just food isn't his area of expertise.

I know, that's why I included the Lester comment.
taste is subjective though. I'm not familiar with Creole creamery btu I do know that if Pochatoula Strawberry or Chocolate City was cheaper over here, I'd buy more of it.

I can think of Iris, Gautreaus (prob the best), Boucherie, Patois, and Martinique (2nd best) off the top of my head, that I've had in the past few months. Of course, nothing beats Brocato's, but IDK if that "counts."

I really want to do this. Need to convince someone to buy the unitasking ice cream maker. I'm already fat enough as it is, I'd be straight up obese if I had the ability to make my own ice cream.

Me either, but I've eaten enough and different kinds to throw out a worthless opinion.

taste is subjective, which is what most of these foods snobs do not understand. No one ever wants to hear that.
has nothing to do with being an ice cream or food "expert"
