Just had 'em. So good. Cooked the peas about 2 hours after soaking over-night. Peas with ham hock, onion, garlic and s&p. Made me wonder why I don't cook them more often. Think I will. They rocked, even the kids ate bukoo

I did my traditional braised purple cabbage with apples, onions, brown sugar and cider vinegar. I've had an aversion to green cabbage since I was a kid.

It's what's traditionally served with sauerbraten but I never did know the name of it. You know, real sauerbraten is a very labor-intensive dish. You have to marinate the meat for at least a week and turn it every day. It's why you seldom see it on a menu any more.
