This. Hands Down. The chicken is really high quality compared to most other Chinese takeout places.

Everyone who likes Nine Dragon owes it to themselves to try Chinese Combo King on Chimes St. You'll never go back to Nine Dragon.

Love me some king's wok!!

Love their fried rice. I've had china bear on bluebonnet and their fried rice was bright yellow.....like turmeric yellow. Never had anything else there.

On the recommendations of this board I was in the area with a few calories to spare so I stopped at China Bear next to Matherne's on Bluebonnet.

I just got a large hot and sour soup to take back to the office, the entrees on the line looked good, but I'll have to wait for another chance when I have more room in the calorie budget.

The H&S was very heavy on the corn starch, more like a H&S jello mold, and it was neither hot nor sour. The mushrooms were not shittake like most recipes call for and there were several pieces of something tough and fiberous that I could not eat. Overall it was like almost every other H&S soup I've had in BR, not good unless you do as I did, take it home, add vinegar, rooster sauce and soy, then eat.

I understand that this is not a fair review, I will go back and try some of the entrees in the serving line, but avoid the H&S unless you are Scandinavian and abhor seasoning of any kind.

Most of them are pretty much the exact same.

I've always thought this as well. Isn't there a kit that they buy to open these places up, and aren't the product all coming from the same purveyors premade anyway?

I'm sure there are a few that are doing things differently, but most around here do seem to be about the same.

I'd really like to get some from NYC or SF though and just see what the real thing tastes like, or as close to it as we can get here in the states.

For me it is. If they can't make good H&S then I will pass.
