Not Keith Young's or Gallagher's b/c no reservations available.

Any hidden gems? Maybe places you wouldn't expect an excellent steak but surprisingly they do, like how some italian places have a good steak?

How many people? Could probably walk into Youngs and sit at the bar.

Add Desi Vegas Steakhouse on 190 going into covington to the list. Not the Desi vegas in mandeville, its a bbq place.

I thought the Owner was also the chef cooking the steaks and had some health issues?

Jacmel and the Steakhouse are off the list. Bad experiences the last visits to both.

Buddy’s and the bar at Keith’s sound intriguing.

Dakota made a really good steak at previous location. Can’t speak to new place in downtown but I would assume just as good.

Buddy's is the correct answer. That Liuzza boy runs a good house.

Cgrand I always love your opinions and you are correct about Buddies but my wife and I have always enjoyed Jacmel and did again just before Christmas. It is pricey but who isn’t these days.

it’s a beautiful place but it does nothing for me. I’ve lived 5 minutes from Jacmel for almost 20 years and have no desire ever to eat there again

It’s obviously busy so hey, more for y’all. Better food and a better experience is only a few more minutes away, and that wasn’t always the case in Hammond USA

Since I know you know the area, what are your one or two other nicer restaurants in Hammond?

Going up there this weekend to see the daughter and wanted to bring her to a great place.

take her to cena (Italian) or buddy’s (steaks). Both are really great, even for Hammond. Tope La is also nice and the food is good but it’s a little dated and stuffy for me. Look at the menu and see if it appeals to you.

for more casual but fun the new blackened brew on club deluxe is great but it’s more of a bar food/burger place. They did a great job on the renovation

don’t discount jacmel just because of me. It really is a beautiful place

Thanks.
25 years ago I took my future wife to Jacmel for our first nice dinner date.
I haven’t kept up with the Hammond scene much but Cena did catch my eye when I was searching online.
