I thought the Owner was also the chef cooking the steaks and had some health issues?

Could have been, hope he gets it back to where it was.

don’t discount jacmel just because of me. It really is a beautiful place

I was there last weekend for a private party. It really is a beautiful place and the set up was great. Everything flowed well and the patio/deck area was really nice. The weather was good so the doors from the main restaurant were opened onto that area.

I can't comment on the menu since it was a party. The hors d'oeuvres that were passed were very good. I never went out to the buffet because I wasn't hungry at that point. The dishes passed were pretty generous.

FWIW, I was told by someone who lives in Hammond that Cena is really the best restaurant there currently.

Cena was very good the times I've gone. I can't remember if they have steak.

Desi Vegas Steakhouse on 190 going into covington

Overpriced trash. The steaks are incredibly inconsistent, and the apps are not good. Avoid this one if you want to leave happy. It's not like the DVs on the south shore.

Pardos makes a good steak

Pardos is a solid spot. The service there is always excellent, and the food for the most part is good.

Tchefunctes is incredible, and it might be the best steak in the area. Their dry aged is killer. You pay there though, because it's probably the most expensive place out there. It's worth it IMO, but be warned that the service can be very spotty at times. The last two times we have been turned into very long nights waiting for our food and server.

Just checked the menu, unfortunately no steak. The rest of the menu looks great, and would be my pick, but unfortunately the boss wants steak and it's her birthday.

one of the nightly specials is usually a filet. Call and ask them. They do have a killer veal chop that is every bit superior to a beef steak

Pardo's on 22 is really good
Tchfuncte's is ok very over priced but the view and atmosphere is what your paying for.
