I'm a big fan of wahada. Not for a date or anything though. I'm not a huge sushi guy, but theirs is pretty good imo

Most impressive sushi in the city is Sushi Yama. Chef there trained almost all the sushi chefs in BR.

I've been there once, I don't remember it being unusually expensive as far a nice sushi joints go though. I don't really remember, I didn't even look at the prices at the time. It was pretty damn good though

For a first date though really it's nice to get a light meal and have a place you can sit and have a couple drinks and just talk for a while.

Agree. Places like Blend do small plates while you sit and drink wine/cocktails.

Blend has some legit sounding ones too.

Another idea is Restaurant IPO.. the tapas joint under The Office. Their small plates are awesome. Plus, it gives you two a chance to share items and swap conversation if you run out of things to talk about/need to break the ice.

It was a girls night out. We were just having fun and not looking to eat too much since we were going out afterward

I can definitely see why guys wouldn't care for it. It's really about having a good time over eating great food

If you stick to the same kinds of things everywhere (crunch roll, spicy tuna, whatever), it won't make a difference to you.

But if you go and try their special in house rolls, the prices are pretty high. We spent $70 at the last lunch there. And only ordered like 3 rolls and some soups.

You need to try the burrito roll next time you eat at Yama...

not sure if serious... I certainly hope not.

My personal choice would be Maison Lacour. Best restaurant in the city, IMO. I've taken 3 different women there and it led to panties dropping for all 3.

So the consensus seems to be Italian or Sushi. Can I get a top 2 for each? Looking to spend 100 give or take.

What are you going for?

A serious date type setting or a relaxed casual date thing?

Italian -- Gino's, no doubt.

Sushi -- if you're looking for the best-quality sushi, Sushi Yama is the place. But if you're looking for a place that chicks dig, then Tsunami (as much as I hate to say it) is the place.

If you take her to sushi, I'd pick somewhere like Koto or Sushi Yama where the chefs know what they're doing. You can educate yourself a little on it and impress her by knowing what's up.

Honestly though, as a female, I wouldn't be impressed by sushi. We do that shite all the time with friends.

I'd be impressed by somewhere quaint and cute.. and not overly fancy.

As has been said Digulio's and Bistro Byronz are your best two options for something off the beaten path, romantic, and relatively inexpensive while still an awesome atmosphere.

And tip well!

I agree with this. Yama is in a strip mall, packed with tables and loud...
