Screw that. If I get to choose somewhere that costs a lot, I'm choosing Ruffino's or Beausoleil.. maybe Stroube's.
Best spots in the city IMO.
Agree.
A lot of chicks dig the rolls with all the piles of mayo bullshite on them and they feel awkward shoving the massive bite into their mouth.
You can't really take bites out of sushi. You have to shove it in your mouth and look ridiculous.
ETA--- Oh I thought you said you're NOT a fan.

I haven't been to Ruffino's in a long time. Love that place

Beausoleil is next on my big date list

Beausoleil is hands down my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge.

Ill break it down for you GREEN.
Go to bistro Byronz.
1. Get them to seat you off to the right of the restaurant, there is a very small area with only two tables, it is quieter and more intimate over there.
2. Order some blue cheese chips to snack on and "break the ice"
3. Recommended entrees
- tenderloin medallions
- pot roast creole
- abita pork chop
- poissin paillard (fried catfish)
All of these dishes are top notch.
4. This is a very important step. Order the dessert call the sinful heavenly hash (or something to that effect, I don't recall the exact name). It is heavenly.
That will conclude your dining experience at bistro.
If you want a few more drinks I may take her to what used to be the wine loft downtown. I went there a few weeks ago and it was pretty chill and had decent drinks.

Didn't like Stroube the one time I went.
My friend always takes his dates out for sushi the first or second time around. Seems to work for him. I learned about the Waka House from him. Kind of tucked away, but I like it more than Tsunami

I haven't been to any of those restaurants fwiw. Actually I went to ruffinos once, about 8 or 9 years ago, didn't stay for long and remember nothing about it.

Don't forget to get her a martini or Vodka Freeze. They have a really inventive martini list as well as their popular Vodka Freeze drink that all the ladies love.
The regular flavor tastes like frozen vodka and sprite, which is good. The strawberry flavor is awesome.

I've heard that from plenty of people.
Seems like a little too much for a first date though. I have my clutch go to first date place that has never let me down.

Depending on how long ago this was, they have changed chefs

Man I loved melting pot the one time I went. For a friends bday so we all paid for our own plus hers. It was over $100
I thought it was fun and tasted good. But I may have felt the same way about Denny's after pre-gaming. I was completely wasted

Most impressive sushi in the city is Sushi Yama. Chef there trained almost all the sushi chefs in BR.
Rolls you can't even imagine exist there.
But be prepared to spend $17/roll for them.
My next favorite is Koto. Very cool atmosphere with the blue lights and stuff.
Sushi is just not a first date type spot for me personally because there are so many things people do differently at sushi joints.
Jones and I's first date was at Digulio's.

I've heard terrible things from guys who've been and good things from most chicks who've been. So yeahhhh

For a first date though really it's nice to get a light meal and have a place you can sit and have a couple drinks and just talk for a while.

Sushi yama:
This one was the best roll I've ever had in my life. Worth almost $20 for it. The sauce had white truffle oil in it:
