Crescent City Grill has a good shrimp Poboy. They have a pretty damn good roast beef debris poboy too.

Hattiesburg has a Patio 44 too. Crescent City and Half Shell Oyster House may be good.

So I thought I would update the thread since some were nice enough to make recommendations. Ha ddinner Thursday night at Half Shell Oyster House. We were seated immediatley upon walking in, but after 10 minutes at least no waitress had bothered to even stop at our table to acknowldge we were sitting there even though 3 different ones had been to every table around us. 2 seats at the bar opened up so we went and sat there. 2 bartenders and they were great, drinks brought immediatley and orders placed. I had the sampler platter (fried) and the wife had oyster sampler platter. I was not impressed with mine at all, shrimp were good but the oysters were fried way too long and the fish (which looked like a frozen Mahi filet) was very fishy. Crab cake was fishy tasting as well. Wife really enjoyed hers. I would try again if I was local but if it wasn't any better I would write em off for good.

After the funeral Friday we all went to The Keg and Barrel. I had the keg stand burger and fries. The burger was excellent and cooked perfectly.

Man, Half Shell is a chain. And a pretty crappy one at that. Never hit crappy chains unless you just have to.

They’re dog friendly too, which is great

Your infatuation with things being dog friendly is really odd and gross. You reek of beastiality.

Hattiesburg poboys are generally suboptimal mainly due to lack of real French bread. Most are on hoagie-type rolls. Pier 98 has decent shrimp poboys. Half Shell here is not nearly as good as Gulfport location. Still on the lookout for a good sloppy roast beef poboy after having lived here for 30 years

I guess you've never been to Crescent City.
