Last time I passed, there were trucks and dumpster out front, so they're doing work on the building for sure. I'm headed out that way this evening, so I'll see if it looks any different than a month or so ago.

I drive by twice a day. It seems outside work is done but haven't seen much activity. They have to be close to getting done.

I don't get the love for Deli Casino. The sandwiches are average at best and small. I'd rather go to Po-Boy Express.

And the parking sucks, and the AC blows in one freezing spot, and the sun through the windows in summer will fry you in certain seats, ...

But the sweet old couple who run it are just the best, nicest folks. I try to overlook the flaws and support the local folks who are working hard for decades.

Can't believe no one mentioned, Imperial Cathay on Youree. Always great Cantonese, and Chinese. Super fresh and clean.

I like it but the food items labeled 'spicy' are not spicy at all. I've had the same problem Ming Garden near the Barksdale Bridge. They don't seem to know what real heat means.

At Ming at least, you can ask them to make a dish spicy, and it will then have some heat to it. Not sure if Cathay will do that for you.

But you are right. They both have peppers on the menu to indicate a spicy dish, but the food has no heat as regularly served.

FYI The Real Pickle will be a new Mexican restaurant opened up by one of the former owners of Bella Fresca. I did a little work in there last month.

Ki Mexico for sure and certain, very good quality, fresh, innovative - make it a priority, and there is variety on the menu, but nowhere near overwhelming, a good place to go several times and have several different tacos, their salads are superb

Gotta hit Herby K's for a shrimp buster and onion rings
Cobb's BBQ on McCormick in old Bossier - only for lunch
Bistro to Go - very high quality, lunch only
Superior grill - there will be people that will deride this place, I consider it very good, probably overpriced and you stink when you leave, but quality of food is high there, IMO
Frank's Nepolitano for wood burning oven stuff including real Neapolitan Pizza and a very good oyster app

Bella Fresca does a nice job for a nicer meal, Superior's Steak House is good, as is Wine Country Bistro - all of these more expensive

Country Tavern has pretty good BBQ and very underrated steaks, in fact, I'd put them pretty darn high on the list for steaks, and Silver Star is similar over in BC is similar, and I would actually say its better

If you get down to the chain joints, the Rotolo's on 70th is well-run and has a very nice beer selection and good sports bar situation - they have several locations, but that's the original and best hang out type of place. There is also Chipotle, Five Guys, Free Bird, etc, etc

The guy that owns Silver Star was a partner in Country Tavern before he went out on his own.
