Will and Poodle,
I'm not commenting on the quality of either place.
Or that people can't cook steak, which is why they opt for something so generic.
What I am saying is that a guy is coming from out of town and 2 national chains are on the recommended list.
If by most people you mean people who go to Las Vegas to eat, then I thank you so much for the nice compliment.

I provided him with 9 other local establishments as well.
I listed Ruth's and Flemings, because to my knowledge of the city of Shreveport, neither are present where he lives.

I understand. Not poking at you. I'm only saying that BR seems to be so lacking in places to recommend.

Gotcha. Again, not picking on you at all.
Savannah is much smaller than BR, and there are so many places I could recommend before I got to a chain.
And I know ATL is many times bigger than BR, but I can't imagine recommending RC to someone visiting ATL. Don't even know if there is a Flemings here.
This board has turned me into a snob!

J. Alexander's is a chain, but IMO it's one solid restaurant. Especially their prime rib.

I'd argue Ruth's Chris is pretty much the most "local" steakhouse you can find in BR these days.

Filet with bernaise. Solid.
And their salads are delicious.

The BR Ruth's Chris is the best of the bunch at which I've eaten across the US and Canada. Haven't been to all of them, but I've been to about 10 in other states and one in Canada. I don't even think of the BR restaurant as a chain. I eat at the BR location frequently when I'm in BR.
If OP wants steak, I recommend Ruth's Chris.
Mansur's for chargrilled oysters and good fish dishes.
Gino's or Nino's for Italian are my favorites.
I love the BR Galatoire's and it makes for a good lunch or dinner spot.

Yes, that's my point!
It's a shame BR has so few good local restaurants. That's all I'm saying.
I think Bonefish is pretty darn solid. If someone is visiting Savannah, I'm not sending them there.
OMG! I am becoming Mike the Tigah

Why? Honest question. Not trying to be contentious. I just can't imagine going out of town and going to one. Especially for someone with far more dining expertise than I.
And it is good! I realize that, but unless I've exhausted all other great local options....

Because I was on business trips with other folks every single time and they like to eat at steakhouses and these were close to wherever we were. We do a steakhouse one night and somewhere else another night. I'm not usually with adventurous diners. It's not a vacation so I'm fine with eating where I know I can get good food. Watched the AL game in a private room at a Ruth's Chris a block from our hotel in Indy. Worked out well, but we ate at 2 steakhouses two nights in a row. I didn't order steak at Ruth's. Can't recall what I had. I'd had steak the night before at a famous steakhouse there the night before. I can't recall the name right now. It was just another block away.

Ah yes.
And don't get me wrong, if someone wanted to take me there, I'd happily go and enjoy it a lot.
That was never my point.
p.s. I wasn't trying to flatter. You seem to actually know most of the restaurants in BR and NOLA.
p.p.s. Unless flattery will win me points in which case I was trying to flatter.

Points for what?
I almost always study the restaurants before we go on a business trip and I meet up with my usual group, but with the picky eaters, I don't get a lot of my first choices and no one wants to get dressed up at night. They want to dress down after being in suits and such all day.
ETA: The drinks and the company are always good, though and usually the food is very good.

Okay, you can have 5 points. I have no idea what they're for since you didn't answer that part. Use the points for whatever thrills you.

5 points isn't near enough for that!

I knew I should have asked what the points would get.
How many points to watch you make a gumbo?

You have to be screened by my security detail first and I'm not sure you'll pass.
