I’ve been getting a full beef loin at Sam’s lately and I find for the price it’s pretty awesome. I can get 10 big filets out of it for under $90. I’m looking for a similar set up but for Prime beef instead of Choice. Anyone know where I can take a look?

I've seen beef loins at Costco. Not sure I've seen prime whole loins, but they sell prime filets and choice whole loins. I bet they'd sell you a prime loin if they have one.

They do. I cooked one a couple of months back and it was one of the best hunks of meat I've ever had. They trim it very well too. I could only find one piece of fat about the size of a dime that needed trimming.

I've found prime beef at Fresh Market & Dry aged at Rouses. You may want to try those...

Glad to hear it. Actually mentioned Costco today to my in laws about possibly carrying a step up in quality compared to Sam’s so I’m glad you’ve confirmed it. Guess I need a membership to both now

Langenstien's on Metairie Road. They have filets but my favorite is the strip. It is not cheap but it is top notch steakhouse quality.

Alexanders Highland Market in Baton Rouge. Great selection of select, choice, and prime cuts and they will cut you exactly what you want if you don't see any precut meat that you like.

Costco, Calandro’s, & Alexander’s all carry Whole & Individual Prime Tenderloins & Ribeyes.

Costco separates their caps & eyes on individual Ribeyes, but will cut you some if you like.

Re: Tenderloins, you can typically get them a little cheaper if you trim yourself.... and will have “scraps” for beef tips or soups.

Costco is cheapest & Calandros typically has best looking cuts, but most expensive. Alexander’s is a little more limited in their display but, both they & Calandro’s will have whatever you want - just ask the butcher. (My experience is limited to Calandro’s on Perkins)

This sounds like a solid set of options. Thank you

Prime tenderloins are a waste of money IMO. Beef tenderloins are the leanest steaks you can get.

I'd say prime ribeyes and fattier cuts are worth the extra money.

Alexanders is great, and the butchers will cut whatever you want.

Costco will be the best selection/price. Sams has prime steaks as well.

I will say that the prime strips and ribeyes I get at Fresh Market look a lot more "prime" than those I have purchased at Sams
