They don’t make them like they used to so if you want one like your grandmother had then you will need to hit up estate sales, garage sales or just pay the $$$ and buy off of EBay.

The V. Watts Trade Mart, next door to V. Watts Furniture in Livingston, LA, had a good bit of Magnalite in good shape. I didn’t look at prices though.

Mcware sells one for about $100. I saw a magna in a flea store the other day for $200. I’d personally buy the brand new one for 100 bucks cheaper

Magnalite is particularly good for making gravies. They're ok to cook a pot of rice in, but any good stainless steel pot works just as well. But if you want to use a Magnalite to cook just a couple of cups of rice, the 3 Qt pot with the long handle works fine. You can find the vintage Magnalite on Ebay.

I bought 2 off of eBay since one had a nice top and the measuring cup…and the other was red.

Seriously curious. Why do you insists on a Magnalite for cooking rice? Is it just for nostalgia or tradition?

My grandfather was a rice farmer near Crowley. Years ago, Hitachi actually sent a company rep from Japan to see the area and find out why so many of their rice cookers were sold in Louisiana.

I don't even know what we are calling a "Magnalite rice pot."

Just the upright sauce pan thing with the lid and the black handle?

That was going to be my next question.

What size are you referring to?. Depending on amount of rice I needed, I have used various size pots. Now for the most part, I use a rice cooker because I don't need to prove to anyone anymore that I can cook rice in a pot.....Unless my old great grandma gets in my head on occasion.
