It is not as good a Restaurant as August or Stella, but it is still in my mind a very special place.

However, it is much more "New Orleans" and has been the standard in NOLA for 30+ years now. Beautiful place, and the measuring stick for NOLA cuisine for a very long time now.

August is John Besh's flagship restaurant and is generally considered the best restaurant in the city. Both August and Commander's are nationally ranked on virtually any major list.

Drago's is ok for one thing: Charbroiled Oysters.

But this is a very special time, and IMO you should want to wow your wife with something special.

August, Stella, and Commander's would all be special.

Domenica is in the lobby. Great restaurant, their pasta is second to none.

Looked at the menu and I don't even know what any of that shite is.

I'll just warn you. They are both extremely expensive by NOLA standards and they are "fancy". Stella is now tasting menu/prix fixe only. It is more experimental I would say. Some unusual things sometimes on that menu.

August as I said is John Besh's flagship. The tasting menu with wine pairings is the best meal I've ever had.

If you aren't sure about their pasta, just get the pizza. Their pizza is phenomenal, best in the city.

The lasagna is really solid tho.

Burratta mozzarella for an app is my recommendation.

I think that August and Stella might be too much for you.

if Domenica is an "exotic" menu to you then I would steer clear of August or Stella.

Herbsaint would be a good choice for you guys. Sylvain as well.

No those both look good. Its that Domenica place that I don't know what half the shite is.

Really? Because I think August and Stella have way more exotic stuff than Domenica. Like I said, both are pretty fancy.

Domenica is just "real" italian stuff instead of spaghetti and meatballs. It is really one of my favorite places in the city. GREAT pizza and pastas. Proscuitto Pizza + Gnocchi. Yes.

hmm interesting. on that note I personally think August is the better restaurant for the price point.
