Personally, I’d drive to The Salt Lick in Driftwood...

I think Emmer and Rye is awesome. It's "nice" but not extremely fancy

I just got back from Austin today. Went to Juniper Friday night which was pretty good but I wouldn’t do it again. Nothing wrong with it but it was just not outstanding. Went to Emmer and Rye last night which was outstanding. I would recommend that. We went to Nixta for lunch which was phenomenal but very casual outside seating but unique flavors like beet tartare taco and smoked cabbage taco and duck confit taco. Extremely good. The tortillas are handmade blue corn from Oaxaca

Salt Lick in driftwood is WAY overrated

There are WAY better BBQ places around Austin and within 30-45 minutes of Austin

If you're looking for expensive fancy kolaches, those are the places to go.

Best Kolaches are at The Kolache Shoppe (now called Kolaches & Koffee...I think)

It's an Austin institution, been there forever so people love it, But the food is really mediocre. Put Valentinas on your list instead for barbecue tacos. For Mexican I go to Curras, another Austin institution, or Lichas Cantina.

It’s no El Tiempo, but few are.

The fajitas at Matt’s are not very good.

That being said, it is still the best Traditional queso in Texas, and the food is more than decent.

Overrated...eh, possible. But still very good. And it has a great patio to enjoy your margarita

I’m sure you are right. Probably why they have all that parking lot, and all those dining areas...
