Bug,
once they see people in this state latching onto parish, great raft, GB type beers, don’t you think at some damn point they will hire at least one brewer who has experience in this to pump out NEIPAs, I just think at some point they will give in. They probably make enough money to not give a shite. Maybe just wishful thinking on my end. I just fantasize a day when we will have a release like they had at parish last Saturday and it will be in my backyard in Abita! Lol

They’re doing this next year. Probably dry hopped with meh.

Frankly, they are big enough to distribute nationally on a pretty sizeable scale. It’s not hard at all for me to find multiple brews of Abita at plenty of locations all the way here in Boston.
Abita from a business perspective could not care less about what Parish et al are doing. In the same way Sam Adams couldn’t give two shits about Trillium.

If anyone can screw up using those hops it’s Abita.

I’ll give “hop on” a chance for sure

Understand ABV doesn't equal good beer but I drink beer because there's alcohol in it. When I pay $11 for a six pack its nice to know that I'm getting some alcohol. Nothing pisses me off more than a six pack of IPA that cost $11 and has a 4% ABV. I can get a half of case of High life with more ABV for $6.99. Yeah it's not as good but if I just wanted something that tasted good I would drink sweet tea.

You know that you can check the packaging for ABV before you buy it, right?
The problem with a lot of high ABV beers is that they taste like alcohol, not beer. F@ck those beers.

I mean really if I think about it why not Gnarley Barley, Parish, Great Raft as options?
Posted on 12/14/17 at 6:50 pm to tduecen
Because part of the caveat in the OP is that it be readily available.

Gnarley Barley has Catahoula Common, Radical Rye, Korova Milk Stout, etc easily available depending on the season
Parish has Canebrake, Southcoast, Envie, and Ghost depending on the season
I mean even with what he listed is not "readily" available since they are not out year around

When I say “readily available” I mean “commonly found”. Maybe that’s not what the OP meant, but I’m only thinking of nationally produced beers. Not necessarily how often during the course of the year they produce it.
Otherwise, I would just say “well I pass Trillium every day after work, so the answer is Trillium.”
But I’m not finding gnarley barley on my shelves and you aren’t finding Trillium on your shelves.

I find Gnarley Barley on shelves all the time... the only ones I don't find is Jucifer
but Korova, Korova Peanut Butter, Radical Rye, Catahoula Common, and Brightside are on the shelves

I don’t know how I can be clearer. I understand you find gnarley barley. This may shock you, but there’s a world outside of LA.
For the purposes of this thread, I think breweries more commonly found around the country are what the OP was talking about. Again, I could be misinterpreting, but it would stand to reason.

quote:Plenty are if in La then Sierra Nevada, Founders, Oskar Blues come into play.... but if he is talking best overall selection throughout the year I don't know how you can discount the local favorites which imo rate higher. They may not have the national rank but many are on par with that.
