I will be in town this weekend for a soccer tournament for my son and im looking to pick up some great deals on bourbon and whiskey. ive heard stuff that I usually buy a fifth for $40, i can buy a gallon for at half the price...needless to say, imma stock up if the rumors are true. any recommendations that put a premium on selection and lower prices? TIA

Total Wine just opened up here, so they'll probably be the cheapest overall.
My favorites are Bin Q and Martins Wine Cellar.
Bin Q has a decent selection, not the cheapest price-wise. But, they're friendly, helpful, and will often have open bottles at the counter for sampling.
Martin's has a limited selection, but sometimes that's nice to avoid choice paralysis. I find their liquor prices very well priced and affordable. They also sometimes have wine sampling.
Other than that, you can always go to Costco. If you're buying by the handle, that might be the place to go. I don't think you need to be a member to buy alcohol.

Don't you have to be a member to get in the door?

I love Bin Q but their beer prices are borderline criminal. Doesn’t help that they don’t put price labels on most of their beer.

No. State law says you can buy liquor at Costco or Sam’s without a membership. The door people won’t know this, and the manager they summon may not know it.
When I did this years ago, they had to phone corporate and ask before allowing me to do so.

While this is true, it sounds like you would be better off just going to Total Wine a few miles down the road, instead of trying to flex your knowledge on a Costco employee that may or may not know this.

You'll have slightly more bourbon & whiskey variety at Total Wine, with competitive pricing. I don't do those particular liquors but I would imagine if you're just trying to get mixers, either try Total Wine or Costco.
Your local grocery stores are going to have markups and smaller bottles, generally speaking.

Hokus Pokus in Prairieville or the new Total Wine on Seigen are probably your best bets.

A lot of great options have been mentioned already, but I'd check Calandros on Government and at Perkins at Siegen. They have a great whiskey selection.

Just left Hokus in Elec and walked out with a scotch to try.

Calandros usually has a few different barrell picks at a time for some good bourbons.
