I have an out of town guest coming to town 10/28 who loves oysters. My first choice out of habit is ACME. Where should we take him?
TIA

Although I'd go to Chimes first

Chimes aren't bad, especially if you go early and get 1/2 price.

OKC.

He's been to New Orleans recently so he's familiar with good Louisiana oysters

Jolie pearl, Parrain’s, or Chimes. I used to always go with Chimes due to the atmosphere

and you can get oysters from Grand Isle grown in cages off the ground and oysters from around the US, but they aren't cheap and most of them are much smaller than gulf oysters.

The Chimes is the only place that consistently shucks the oyster correctly. Always clean of grit , the bottom "foot" cut off , and they don't spill the liquor. One day Acme served me a half dozen raw on a sauce sized plate. To make them fit, they had to tilt them and stack edge on edge..all the juice spilled out on the plate.

Went to Jolie Pearl. Wife had a dozen and some soup. Friend and I had three dozen each. Enjoyed trying the different varieties of oysters. Overall I recommend. First time I dropped $260 for oysters

No alcohol....... this time. He's preaching in the morning

The huge ones are not as good IMO.

Correct. If they are coming from Boston Area through Maine, they will spit out Gulf Oysters.
