I would always go for the Mexican beers when on a college budget

Do they sell beer at Costco in LA? If so, someone else besides me needs to try it. Its like getting a case of gateway beers. Four different styles and nothing mind blowing, but they are all very drinkable.
Perfect for the college kid who wants to upgrade on the cheap or for a party.

Old Milwaukee regular, not light.
10-12 years ago, Consumer Reports did a blind taste test on about 20 bears, including brews such as Heineken. The winner was Old Milwaukee. I tried it and still like it. I also always have on hand 3-4 six packs of seasonals such as Abita, Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, Guiness, etc. I never buy "cold" beer for home.
But, Old Milwaukee remains my everyday beer.
They have changed the can twice, but still good less expensive beer. Hi Nabor on Jones Creek, keeps some unrefridgerated for me.

I remember that. We used to get kegs of it because it was so cheap, and folks happily slurped it up w/o knowing what it was.
But sales are way down these days. From a USA Today article on beers people are not buying:
Old Milwaukee
Sales loss (2007-2012): 54.0%
"Old Milwaukee ... won a number of gold medals awarded by the Great American Beer Festival. ... However, gold medals and marketing boosts did little to improve the brand's downward trend. Old Milwaukee sold 470,000 less barrels of beer in 2012 than it did in 2007, more than a 50% decline in sales."
The biggest loser was Michelob Light, down 69.6%.
And when's the last time you saw Löwenbräu?

I like to have a few good beers that get me buzzed and then switch to High Life when I'm drunk if I'm gonna be drinking for a long time.
