I have only had their seafood Gumbo, but Rice and Roux on O’Neal is just about my favorite.

I don't know about the one in BR but the best restaurant gumbo I've ever had was at Roux 61 in Natchez.

Another vote for Dempsey’s.

Iverstine’s Butcher. Just make sure it’s the old butchers recipe

Haven't been there in about 5 years but Louisiana Lagniape used to have an awesome duck gumbo.

The Chimes gets my vote, though it’s sometimes too thick.

For seafood I am a fan of Parrains.

Dempsey's
I've had pretty good gumbo at the Jambalaya Shoppe and Pot and Paddle, but they're HEAVILY variable based on which store you go to. Dempsey's is consistently good.
EDIT: The one on Coursey, that is. I've not been to the other locations, if they're even still open.

Not really a place you go to for gumbo, but Portabello's gumbo is very good.
