Charcoal is a PITA. I want the ease and quickness of LP or NG.

Never heard of BGE. Have to google it.

Kamado style ceramic grills are the way to go. Durability and versatility are great, I will never have anything else. Smoke, grill, Bake it can do it all. With the way I have plowed through various smokers and grills my BGE has already paid for it self. Pizzas on it are the shite too.

Have always used charcoal, but just bought my first gas grill...a Weber...and recommend it if you go that route as well.

Spend the money on the Weber. They are worth the extra money.

IDK man, I've always been a charcoal guy.

I've always had the opinion that if you are really looking for quick & convenient dry heat, look at cheaper indoor options.

I'm old-fashioned though.

I've got a Char-Grill Quantum that is Infrared with 5 burners and I think it was like 450. I bought it almost 4 years ago and it still works like a champ

Goodwood Hardware usually has a Father's Day sale. I would wait until then and see what they have. Last year I was able to pick up a Weber Spirit that was upgraded with all stainless componets and a side burner for around $400. I originally wanted the Genesis but couldn't justify the price difference.

Not with the Weber Performer. It has a gas assist that lights your charcoal, a pan to catch and easily dispose of the ashes, storage for your charcoal and a nice cart. In my mine this is the best grill for the money.

I will get home from work and get the charcoal started and then change out of my work clothes. Then will prep the food for the grill. By the time it takes me to do that (about 15 minutes) the charcoal is ready. So it really doesn't take me much more time than a gas grill would.

At least he didn't recommend one of these (though they are amazing):

If someone is looking for a gas grill, BGEs do not belong in the discussion. I will always have both charcoal units and gas grills. They do different things. One is not a substitute for the other.

Uniflame 3 burner plust side burner from wal-mart for $120. Works frickin awesome and will suit any size party just fine if you aren't in to dick-measuring with your buddies when it comes to grillin.

Right now I have my eye on a Weber Genesis, but $699 seems to be a lot for a grill.
It will be worth it because it will last as long as 2 or 3 cheaper grills. I am a charcoal guy, but am thinking about getting the genesis for mid week grilling and when I only want to grill one or two items quickly.

The Weber Kettle One Touch is the best bang for your buck for a charcoal grill and a BGE is an absolutely great charcoal grill/smoker, but expensive. Only worth it if you use it a lot or are not concerned with value.

nah. got 3 out of my last one before upgrading to 3 burner and giving the old one away. the only thing that actually goes out on them is very cheap to replace. So, in 12 yrs I might have spent 250 on a grill and replacement parts.
How's that warrant a $400 grill with the same specs? This ain't Kia versus Honda. Grills don't leave you on the side of the road or kill your children with defective axles and shite.
