Tried it at Jungs Golden dragon yesterday and was really disappointed.
Was not impressed with Five Happiness either.
So far its between the China Orchid and China Doll on a good day.
Anyone else got a contender?

August Moon is generally well thought received.

Try the Chinese Kitchen place on Carrollton.
It's sort of a ghetto place (well, maybe not even sort of), but they generally do pretty good Chinese-American style Chinese food.

Isn't this like judging a sushi joint by their California roll?

Since the best Chinese food thread in NOLA a few weeks ago I've really been comparing Jungs to August Moon. For traditional American Chinese take out August Moon is by far the better option. Unless you are ordering from they special yellow menu I would go to August Moon. Them 5 Happiness and China Town in Kenner are my favorite places.

Hate to admit it, but the one I liked the best was at the Mandarin House buffet place on Severn in Metairie. Don't go there anymore after getting grossed out on Chinese food by a shocking event with food from another Chinese place. Plus, it was a buffet.
Given that Asian places top the health inspections list, we're very picky about which places we go to.

I would suggest trying their Schezwan dishes. I think Jung's does that better. FWIW.

Empress of China on Wall Blvd on westbank has really good Gen Tso that does taste a bit different than the typical. I find it tangier and sweeter.

I have still prefer AM.
Do you remember the place that was in the same parking lot as Chateau Pub? Not the buffet place but the Chinese restaurant that was before that. Think it was called Hunan. The building isn't there anymore.

Wasn't one named the Panda King? I think they moved to the Wank.

That's a relatively new place on W. Esplanade. Never tried it.
Wise,
You are talking about the place Panda King took over?
I can't remember the name of it. I do remember going often. That had to be nearly 20 years ago.

Oriental Triangle on Jefferson Hwy.
Young's on Williams Blvd
Ask for extra peppers if you prefer more spice.
Both have a really good sauce.
