I don't care for Monsoons or Mojitos either... I also hate bourbon and tequila with a passion...

The Library Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton, At the Ritz-Carlton, 921 Canal St. (tel. 504/524-1331): The brain child of local and fourth generation bartender Chris McMillian, this gorgeous, inviting space is the place for serious drinkers, who want to admire a master mixologist at work. Order a Mint Julep from McMillian, and get a history lesson. Or just let him introduce you to a new cocktail and the deep pleasure of good drinking.

I believe this is the place I really enjoyed...you name a drink and he will tell you it's history.

As for the Skylab....You have got a problem...that was not made to enjoy...just to knock you on your arse.

This is my favorite as well, but it is a summertime drink. I also really liked the French Press at Luke.

I want to try a Ramos Gin Fizz, but can't seem to find anyone who can make them. Anyone have any recommendations?

I love a Pimm's cup at the Napoleon House too in the summer. I also love any cheap double drink at The Chart Room after going a few rouns at the Carousel bar!

Guess I'll just have to stick with the 57 Chevy, Pimms Cup, Rainstorm, & Shark Attack.

My Maker's Old Fashioned

I tend to like my Old Fashioned on the sweet side. So, you may want to adjust the simple syrup and cherry juice according to taste.

2 orange slices
2 maraschino cherries
1 tsp cherry juice
1 tbsp simple syrup
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Maker's Mark Bourbon
Club Soda
Crushed Ice

Muddle together one orange slice, one cherry, the cherry juice, simple syrup, and the bitters in a double old fashioned glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Fill almost to top with bourbon, leaving just enough room for the club soda. Top with about one ounce of club soda. Garnish with second orange slice and cherry.
