Without going through the whole thread. Don's Specialty is the best. Hands down. I have had boudin everywhere on my hunting and fishing trips and its not even a close race. They simply are the most consistent of everyone. The previous king was the Mowata grocery store just north of Crowley.

I was born and raised in Ville Platte, LA, and we have some damn fine boudin back home. I was however shown the light when I started going to LSU. That is when I was told about Billy's in Krotz Springs off of 190. This is the best boudin period.

I am glad you like Ray's. I also live in Opelousas and I really think it is pretty bad stuf and then calling himself a legend in boudin.
But to each his own...

Legnon's in New Iberia is the best by far. It has a very rich pork taste, very flavorful, the right amount of spice and great rice to meat ratio.
Dons off of I-10 in Lafayette is very similar to Legnon's.

I would have to say
1. Chadeaux's in Kinder
2. Best Stop
3. Gillis Gro. In Gillis

I'd vote for this as #1 in a heartbeat. Their use of black pepper in their boudin is what seperates them from the rest!

There was recently a boudin contest in Louisiana a few months ago and T-boys in Mamou came out first or second.(dont remember)

Sorry, but I conducted my own BLIND boudin tasting for the Southern Foodways Alliance and Best Stop didn't even finish in the Top 5... 1st place was the Mowata Store, 2nd place was Poche's (Breaux Bridge).
