Best 30" or 36" gas cooktop? Update with purchase & photo

Our cheap 30" Whirlpool finally died (or on its last leg).
We want something awesome, Thermador, Viking, etc.
Is there any others I should consider?
LG, GE?
Update:
We were torn between the Thermador and the Samsung (highest btu burner on market at 22K). We went several places and ended up at BestBuy. They had the exact Thermador we wanted ($1600), but the had an open box one for 50% off (floor model). We grabbed it. Only thing that was missing was the pressure regulator and the cast iron griddle that comes with it. Luckily, the regulator on my Whirlpool was the exact same one.
Our biggest problem, which was going to happen on probably anything we bought, it doesn’t fit due to pop up down draft. I gotta get a guy out to cut my countertop 1/2”.

I put Thermador in ours when we built and love it. They had a good deal when buying a lot so we saved and got some free items. I have the pro grand with the steam oven...really like the steam oven. I had one bad igniter on one of the burners recently (have owned units for 4 years)...a burner I don't use often so it may have been bad.

Don't know what your price range is, but the Thermador, blue star and others were too pricey for me.
I got this Samsung for about $1700.
It's got an 18,000 BTU burner, and a 15,000 BTU burner. You can boil big pots of water in no time flat. Put a nice sear on that steak, or even wok at high heat. (Make sure you have good ventilation.
Convection oven works like a champ.
Built in temp probe.
I have no complaints.

Blue Star, especially if you just want a cooktop. They make 30 and 36, open burners, including one (or more) 22K Btu burners. I had a Blue Star range at my old house and loved it. The oven was a bit janky, but the cooktop was awesome.

BlueStar open burner.

Just got a 30" GE Cafe from ADL, was a good price and I really like it. It has a 20,000 BTU burner also. A gas lock for kids and the knobs have LED lights (which is nice but definitely not necessary).

Is that style harder to clean? I had seen the name and the high BTU burner when looking but I seemed to remember seeing the cleaning of it being a little bit of a pain?

I have a 36" Thermador Masterpiece. ~$2,000
It had the best distance between the actual burner and the grates which sounds like its not a big deal but I read a ton of reviews and this was the number one complaint on a lot of cooktops.
We've cooking on it for over three years and I still smile each time I'm standing in front of it.

Sorry to hear you bought downdraft. They're useless...I lived with one for a good 10 years, it was awful. Venting is inferior, pulls flames to the side, doesn't really pull out cooking smell.
I would have gone with a 30" BlueStar in a heartbeat.

We hate that downdraft, it’s a POS. It came with the house.

That was one of the free things I got in the package I was talking about was a 54" insert vent with a 1000cfm remote mounted (attic) blower for free. Well im sure I paid for it somehow
I never liked those downdrafts either.
Congrats...time to put it to work.

I put in a 36 inch Bosch about 3 years ago now and have had no issues with it. It is a 5 burner, the 2 on the left and right front are the regular ones, the right/rear is the simmering burner and the center is the large burner.
It has 3 heavy duty grates that make for a continuous grate across the whole cooking area of the stove. I cook at least once a day every day on it and 2-3 times a weekend.
It is stainless steel so cleanup is pretty easy. If I recall correctly, it was in the $850 range, but that was 3 years ago so I'd expect it to be a bit higher now.

First meal off the stove. Filet mignon with blue cheese and brown butter, blue salad wedge, and asparagus

I found it to be easier. The whole thing comes apart really easily and the burner kind of hangs independently, so you can take the iron grill, and the bowl underneath the burner out and clean everything. It’s vwry simple and painless.

Ahh ok. I never looked much further into them because my ocd for matching alliances wouldn’t allow it
