I am going to a wedding in Beaumont later next month and am wondering if there are any musts.

There’s a plethora of awful chains off the interstate. So if mediocrity is your game, there’s no shortage.

As the author of the “previous thread”, and having spent plenty of time there —- I can only really recommend J. Wilsons. And even it is not all that great. That town is truly devoid of memorable food options.

If you care more about a cool, casual atmosphere Juanitas Fish Camp or Luke’s Ice House. But both places were pretty straightforward mexican food.

Monicas is actually the best meal I had, but they are much more of a lunch spot with a very small menu and no alcohol (iirc)

Is there any place that you can recommend for breakfast eats that's not a chain?

As I replied in the previous thread, I will do so again with the same answer.

"Elena's on College has one of the best chili rellenos that I have ever had. Very solid menu and I have never had a bad meal there."

Monicas probably does breakfast, I would check that. Otherwise, no. I don’t eat breakfast.

Al-T's is better than it used to be after they sold it but if you can drive just a little further past Winnie, go to The Crawfish Shack in Anahuac. Plus, Bucee's is only a a few miles further in Baytown.

Elena's on College has the best fajitas I've ever tried and i try a lot of fajitas! They use a skirt steak that is mouth watering!

Screw Lupe tortillas! Overpriced chain!

Also, Willy's burgers and crown pizza are right next door to each other are really good!

Reds Icehouse is a cool little bar that opened up on college that has a nice outside patio area and they recently started selling crawfish around $5 lb. Nice little hangout! Wait a few batches before getting the crawfish though!
