So mom cooked turkey today and for some reason we didn’t bring home any leftovers... We were trying to figure out what to have for supper and obviously didn’t want anything too filling. The recipe thread comes through again! Kajungee and Tavolatim recipe’s for BBQ shrimp are perfect I kinda merged them both! I need some food photography skills but here’s my attempt anyhow. to all of you guys and gals for sharing.

Yikes. I hope it tastes good. Not trying to hate on it, but on looks nothing like BBQ Shrimp, only like shrimp with Jack Millers and mustard thrown on it. But if the flavor is there...enjoy.

It’s not actually BBQ’ed. It’s sautéed, not sure why the restaurants all call it BBQ shrimp but they do. I grill shrimp all the time but this is my first attempt at this type of shrimp.

Glad to hear a post about 2 great F&D Board posters, TavolaTim and KajunGee RIP. That shrimp looks great!

BBQ Shrimp is a unique dish that's easy to get right. Mainly oil, shrimp with heads and lots of garlic, spices and French bread to soak it all up and you can't go wrong.

You don’t say. They don’t throw BBQ shrimp on the BBQ?

I've been eating BBQ'd shrimp for most of my life. Mostly from home where it was actually prepared in the oven with a foiled tent. Had it at Mr. B's quite a few times as well as K-Pauls. I have never seen anything that resembles that dish except perhaps an Indian Shrimp Curry. Like I said...not trying to hate on it- just a little trepidatious by the looks of it.

The BBQ shrimp recipe I have doesn't have anything to do with or a BBQ. Nothing but butter, herbs, garlic, shrimp and french bread.

Congrats, I guess? I shared my experience as a way to express my gratitude to those on the board that put so much time and effort into the recipes shared for anyone to use. My bad that it didn't measure up to your culinary expertise.

I usually avoid responding to douchey and pompous posts such as yours but it kinda triggered me for some weird reason...

need to cook with butter, garlic, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, wine, and the heads ON. Serve with hot french bread

Didn’t have any with heads on and didn’t use wine as neither recipe called for it, but agree that would have made it better. Either way it was delicious and we destroyed it.

Looks great. Next time you have people over you need to cook this for them.

Looks like you made a meal with what you had on hand. I aint mad. I've done that a hundred times. Screw the haters .

FWIW, the Tavolaitim recipe is money if you have the luxury of all the ingredients.

Y'all are missing what he's saying.

OP posted a link to Mr B's, which is the recipe I make. And it looks nothing like his photo. Nobody here is claiming BBQ shrimp is BBQ'd - just that OP's photo doesn't really look like Louisiana BBQ Shrimp.

For reference - this is from Mr. B's Yelp:

Thanks, in hindsight I should have just said that I cooked something from the recipes in the recipes thread and not posted my shitty picture.

If it helps, my gumbo is ugly as hell. But the flavor is there! So I'm sure your shrimp are just as good if you went by those recipes :)

Which one, can you share the link?

Did you follow it or adlib?

Seems more likely that you missed that they were trolling him. In his second post of the thread OP thought it was necessary to clarify “it’s not actually BBQ’ed. It’s sauteed” after being told his picture looked nothing like BBQ shrimp (which it doesn’t).

This is a board with the population centered around BR/NO. Everyone knows that BBQ shrimp never sees a grill, the clarification was unnecessary. They were just taking the piss.

1st off, supper is a dumb word. 2nd, nice shiner bock, 3rd, looks good and I would eat it no matter what it’s called

Yea, I’m sure OP’s tasted fine, but I’ve always known BBQ shrimp to be much darker. His looks just like shrimp sautéed in butter with no washyoursister sauce.
