Are you comparing the Br location to Nola? The one in Nola always seemed busy but they get a lot more “culcha” and is right in the middle of downtown Nola next to the casino.

Barcadia also had terrible management and mediocre food after the Curbside dudes split. I made it a regular stop before and after concerts at the Varsity for a while and watched the decline, which was sad. It was a great concept with a terrible execution.

Meh.
I've been with my family several times from lunch time through early evening time. Unless something has changed recently or it's a late night thing, I doubt that is really an issue.

I wouldn't say it's right really next to the casino either.

I also wouldn't say the NOLA one is next to the casino. Second, the NOLA one does decent lunch and early evening happy hour/dinner business pretty much 5 days a week. Won't address the other comment but it does draw a pretty diverse and hip, but definitely middle-class crowd in the late evenings. I'm not cool enough to hang out with that crowd but always seems like people are having a good time.

Just say black people next time so we all know

I've never noticed that anytime I've been there or walked by.

Used to have a good time for Trivia night over there. Bad management and food tanked when they switched a year or so ago. When they first opened they had some of the best bartenders in the area, and that quickly turned into some of the worst (obviously a product of the slow business) Never seen it packed in there even on game days. Well I take that back, when they had a Star Wars trivia night it was packed to the frickin walls, but other than that, notta

Always cracked me up that they seemed to have a new gimmick every week. They must’ve rearranged the furniture and the games every night. And then didn’t know what they wanted to do for the parking lot/stage area. Never once saw them have a live band on that stage.

Jesus Christ this post got more backlash than I intended. I was talking about the club part of the Nola Barcadia that is like a rave, which is what the other poster was talking about, saying it’s easier to manage to bc “everyone is on drugs” or something like that. I have had many good times at the Nola Barcadia.

The place was well anticipated, advertised, and pulled in a decent crowd when it opened. So, I don’t think it was “doomed from the start”.

The place tanked when Curbside left, and then fell into the BR standard of the bad management and the irreversible downward spiral of doom commenced.

They should have gone to a penny arcade model or just free games at all times. It would have kept people there buying more drinks rather than spending their quarters and leaving.

I can't believe they lasted as long as they did.

How does BR remedy this? What’s the long-term solution?

I really enjoyed it when it first opened. They had all the retro games like ninja turtles, Wednesday night “sex, drugs, and rock n roll” trivia was fun and the food was pretty good. Then it started to decline fast. They advertised a new beer garden which was really just a few picnic tables on the patio. Then the straw that broke the camels back for me was when I went there to watch a baseball game last year and they didn’t have SEC network. How are you a bar on campus but can’t put the damn game on??
