Is there nothing better and better smelling? Just put two in the oven and was wondering how others baked theirs. Poke, no poke; foil, etc.
I tried something different today. I cut them in half. About to take them out and rub butter.

Whole, no foil, squeeze with towel to see if soft/ready.
And no, nothing smells better.

No poke no foil just put on a foil covered baking pan. Bake @ 400 degrees for one hour. Squeeze with towel or oven mitt to check for doneness.

Definitely a good idea to put foil on the baking sheet. The sugar that sometimes cooks out is nearly impossible to scrub off. And yes, they smell delicious!

I tried no foil based on this board's rec......the skin was rubbery. I much prefer foil with olive oil salt and pepper. Skin comes out crisp and the innards is wonderful.

I use no foil on either potatoes. Crust is crispy. Bake at 425. I like Dawson Farm's sweet potato seasoning. It's delicious.

Chopped, skin on, bathed in olive oil, salted and "baked" at 350 until crispy on the outside.
I guess that's really roasting but it is in the oven
