Big fan of Jeffery’s. Best happy hour in town to.

We ended up at Lonesome Dove. It was close by the hotel and the menu looked intriguing. They had just updated the menu that day, but we decided on the old stuff.
Apps - Fettine Trio, Rabbit-Rattlesnake Sausage (just wanted to say I tried rattlesnake, and it was very good), and Blue Corn-Lobster Hushpuppies.
It was just 2 of us, so they put together smaller portions of the sausage and hushpuppies into 1 app.
Main Course 1 (me) - Roasted Garlic Stuffed Beef Tenderloin, Western Plaid Hash, Grilled Asparagus
Main Course 2 (guest) - Elk Loin, Hen Of The Woods, Crispy Collards, Salsify, Candied Grapes
Couple of Old Fashioneds for the guest (he was highly complementary).
All in all it was a great meal. We were there kinda of early, but the wait staff was great and helpful, and the food was really good.
I think it was about $250, I had 3 glasses of wine and got a cookbook. Not too bad, esp. on the company dime.
Thanks for the recommendations. I have some family going back this fall to visit UT and passed them along.
We did BBQ at the County Line on the Lake. Not sure I would call that a Lake, I was expecting Lake Travis. Not the best I've ever eaten, but pretty good.

Ate at Justine’s tonight and will post a review tomorrow or Monday when I’m back in town.
Cliff Notes: great food, great service, eye candy beyond belief.

It’s old school restaurant-style (not meat market style) bbq. It’s very good for its class.

I was in Fabi and Rosi a few weeks ago for the second time and I really like it.

I hadn't heard of this place. Just checked out the menu and it sounds really good. I'll definitely have to check it out soon.
