I would be saddened if it were every 4 weeks, but I understand. For me, I don't care if there are 6 entries or 60. We always see something innovative and amazing
I agree as well as also understand the regular participants should make the call.

I certainly don't need it to be every 4 weeks! I'm around.

It was a suggestion only because I want to see more people participating and I was afraid maybe vacations and whatnot ate into the preparation time.

How about approaching from an ethnicity standpoint? Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian, etc...

Not a single comment on my suggestion of eggs as the ingredient. Is that y’all’s subtle way of saying

I have no feeling either way on eggs. I'm certainly down for the challenge! Though we may need to define what qualifies as main course for egg.

Would have to be a main ingredient. I’m thinking frittata, quiche, shakshuka, deviled, soufflé, scotch eggs, eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast casseroles, and any of the out of the box ways people could think of. Not as just one of many ingredients, like in a cake. Does that make sense?

However, maybe I’ll go with eggplant. Or chuck roast. Or potatoes. Or ground beef.

This dishes don't have to be a main course, right?

I'd love to see interesting egg dishes. You can go savory or dessert with eggs.

So if you make eggs the main ingredient there are limitations. If you don't, then it's just an ingredient with endless options.

If steak has not been done, well then.

It just becomes a cook whatever contest because you can incorporate eggs into about anything if you wanted

I think the people entering these are good enough to make something like the egg a main ingredient

I mistyped, was answering a call when I submitted. Define main ingredient, I meant.

For example, pasta carbonara or pasta alla zozzona where egg plays an important role but it is a pasta dish so unsure if it would count?

I do agree cakes would be silly to submit since egg is such a small part of that.

t00f makes a good point that mushrooms can go into pretty much anything and were still showcased pretty well. So I think we can handle eggs too! Use your best judgment and showcase the egg however you see fit.

I think that would count, because it’s not carbonara without the egg? Not sure. If someone made custard, like Tart a la Bouillie, could that count? It’s an egg custard. Is creme brûlée an egg custard?

Regardless, if we say main ingredient and people stray too far, maybe the voters will decide.

I'm not a judge and haven't even been a participant, but I would accept those. I don't this contest is supposed to be too "rule heavy". It's supposed to be fun and I so enjoy seeing anything folks submit and appreciate the contributions by everyone.
