Arse's Fatty Rewind™ (Taceaux Loceaux, College Inn, Ruth Chris, etc)

Good afternoon ladies and gents. I apologize for the tardiness of this post. I had to wrap on my CLE this morning and run to another stop before coming in to work.

Unlike most people, I had to work Friday. I came in after a heavy day of drinking around town on Christmas. My body was not happy at the office.

After work, I ran home to grab a drink to calm the system down. After another, we decided we didn't want to go dine anywhere. We were both struggling. I decided to head the to the Kingpin for Taceaux Loceaux. TL is my favorite truck in town, and they know what they're doing.

We ordered the Messing with Tejas (brisket) and Kermit's BBQ (pork). I cried when I discovered they didn't have any avocado fries. The fries are outstanding and a must order any time they are available.

The tacos were delicious and spicy. My favorite was the brisket. I can't wait to try them again.



And it's always nice to was them down with a tall boy.


When we finished our order, we headed to grab some froyo. I got birthday cake and brownie flavors. For the toppings, I went graham cracker cereal, reese's cups, cheesecake bites and those strawberry balls that burst flavor in your mouth. I'm glad I don't live close enough to this place, or I'd be there every night.

I then returned home to pound some Beam and watch "Workaholics" reruns until I passed out.


On Saturday, I awoke to go jog at the park and run some errands. The rain was quite bad, and I tried to brave it out. Upon arrival at the park, I said "frick it," and decided to run to District Pies. They have been open a couple of weeks now. They didn't have many options for breakfast. Three of the five were savory pies for lunch or dinner. I went with the blueberry cream cheese option.




The pie was delicious. You could tell they are made with love. I enjoyed the lemon zest. My only complaint would be that it was not filling. I believe I could have had three and been content.


After finishing errands, I returned home to have a few drinks before lunch. We were meeting some friends at 2 to go bowling at Rock-n-Bowl. We first attempted to go to Parkway, but their line was at least 60 deep. I have no patience for shite like that, so we opted for Juan's Flying Burrito on Carrollton.

I got the Flying Burrito "wet" and a order of chips with the works. The burrito was great, however I would have enjoyed it more had they not placed the heaping scoop of salsa on top. I prefer the enchilada sauce. The leftovers were also very good cold.






After lunch, we went to bowl. I was glad to get some exercise in. Of course, I dominated all the girls.



After a couple games, they shut the lanes down for some fancy Sugar Bowl party. I didn't want the flow of bourbon to end, so we went next door to Ye Olde College Inn. Anytime I walk through their doors, I feel compelled to order the oyster, havarti and bacon poor boy. I also ordered some fried onion rings. I cut the poor boy into quarters to share.




My god, that poboy is ridiculous. The oyster were crispy, and the havarti and bacon were performing some odd ménage à trois in my mouth. Whoever created this beast deserves a James Beard.
