Good morning ladies and gents. The first weekend of Mardi Gras is officially behind us. My body is excited for the upcoming debauchery. The onslaught of food, Beam and glitter will be outrageous.

Friday after work, I ran to the little lady's to assist her with setting up for a birthday party she was hosting. I polished off the remnants of a handle of beam and commenced warming pork for tacos.

We also had some caprese salad skewers, jalapeno popper dip, cheeses and fixings for the tacos. I cannot get enough queso fresco for tacos. It's flavor dust.

They also had a Debbie Does Doberge king cake for the party boy.

After kicking everyone out, I began cleaning up. I had a little Beam left so I decided to polish it off. I'm now out and have to refill again.

I awoke early to go run with my brother. Our training is coming along, and the Nigerians should be concerned. But before heading out the door, I finished the Hi-Do kingcake I purchased the day before. They make, in my opinion, the best in the city.

After nearly dying during the run, I ran to my office to grab a file to work on. I then headed home to shower. After showering, I grabbed the little lady and we went to Commander's for brunch.

The jazz was good, the cocktails outstanding, and the food was delicious. I first ordered an old fashion, which I found to be on the sweet side. I ordered smoked salmon, lamb and eggs, and pecan pie. After the cocktail, I went with a couple Basil Hayden's.

The meal was great, and the company was finer. We had intense discussions about dental dams, tossing salad, and world politics. I can't wait to go back. My buddy's dish was my favorite of everyone's. He went with the goat tamale. It had intense flavors and a nice heat to it.

We left Commander's and walked to St. Charles to catch the peerades. It sucks to live in such an awesome city. The weather was amazing and the crowds were friendly.

After the last day peerade, we ran home to let the dog out. After the little guy urinated, I went to my buddy's on Prytania and Napoleon to catch the night peerades. He had a nice spread from earlier in the day. I just grabbed some chicken fingers and egg salad finger sandwiches. I love egg salad.

From his house, I walked to the massive neutral ground and commenced pounding some Beam. I stumbled onto a battle of the bands on the corner. ESJ dominated with "Neck."

The Jesuit Marine Corps JROTC couldn't handle my awesomeness. I was impressed with their rendition of the Star Spangled Banner before the peerade. It was truly amazing.

Some brothers were gathering together across the street. They appeared to be mad. Luckily, they didn't have pitch forks.

Some hippie got lost and turned into the peerade.

My buddies and I also started working on a new peerade app. We're going to call it Poop Tracker. I don't want the marchers stepping in that shite. Here was my first notice.

I even got to take a selfie with this rad disco dancer. He had all the right moves.

After the peerades, we ran to meet my brother at Oak. I grabbed something similar to an old fashion, frites, burrata and some steak bruschetta. Everything was okay, not outstanding. I liked the frites the best.

After drinks, we went home. I had to get ready for mass.

I awoke on Sunday ready to party. I went to mass and got my praise on. After mass, I had a quick meeting with the Knights of Peter Claver.

I then went to Lafitte's and ordered Verti Mart to be delivered. I wanted to get my grub on before Barkus. I grabbed an oyster poorboy and fries.

I have forgotten how much I enjoy fried oysters. I have had two sandwiches with them the past week. Why did I think to go with shrimp the past couple of months?

The little lady joined me with Underdog.

Wyatt from Weird Science has really let himself go.

After several rounds, we walked to Lafitte's In Exile to catch Barkus. I believe Owlie had some VIP seats on the balcony.

I ran into Super Dave on the way back to Lafitte's. It's good to know he can take a call whenever or wherever he is.

After finishing some more drinks, we headed to GB's to eat. I grabbed a filet. It was good, but nothing fancy. I much prefer their burger.

The little lady couldn't finish her burger, so I finished it like a true gentleman. I like their burgers a good bit.

For dessert, we went with their Carnival Red Velvet. It was rich and moist. I'd gladly order it again.

We went home, and I think I passed out around 8:30. It was a good day.

On my way in, I was feeling like it was a McD's morning. I grabbed the steak bagel and plopped down at my desk to dive in. The sauce is interesting.

Stay fat, my friends.

I'd like to know two things from these weekends: how much $ you drop on all these meals and pre-weight, post weight

I don't plan on posting Rewinds during Lent. When I come back, I'll let you know how much weight I dropped.

That cake looked awesome, but I'd also kill for that tamale from Commander's.

And if I was Arse, there's no way I'd do early morning running or church after all that late night eating and drinking that he does.

I've been known to eat donuts before games. I also would drink a Coke and eat a snickers or hot dog at half. The NCAA should have taken me just for that.

What time? I got there a little late. One of my brothers passed, so we were discussing burial. I got there around 11:40.

I left around 4:30. I was sitting at the small table by the door around 1:30. I may have been walking to meet my brother to instruct him how to park "legally" in someone's drive.

Sunday

My epic Bacchus Sunday was turned on its side this year. After 15 years on wildness on 4th and St. Charles, my buddy's parents decided to not have the open house anymore. I understand when random people are walking in your house. But the party will go on.

Hail Thoth.
