Mondays suck. I just completed a fat and lazy weekend, and now I'm grinding it out at the desk.

On Friday after work, I went to the house where I would be responsible for the pool for 48 hours. I did a quick inspection and grabbed some fancy bourbon off the bar. I couldn't find the Beam I had left there earlier.

After a couple rounds, we decided to go and try the new Mexican joint in Algiers, El Paso. I had not heard anything about the place, and I was curious what they had to offer. Supposedly, it's in the old Bennigan's spot. The layout looked familiar to me.

When you're seated, the run out some salsa and bean dip. The bean dip was good, but runny. The salsa was okay. We also got some guacamole.

I ordered some Negra Modelos with the meal. While deciding on what to order, I enjoyed the tunes of some guys singing to some Mexican cd's. My favorite song they played was La Bamba.

I decided to go with a combo plate to try everything out. It came with a taco, enchilada, burrito, and chalupa. Everything tasted similar, but I was pleased with the cheap meal. I'd go back, since Algiers doesn't have much to offer.

After a few beers, we decided to return home and watch the Cops episodes which were recorded. I found the Beam hidden at the bottom of the bar. I was excited!

I think I passed out around 11:30. The Beam had kicked in.

On Saturday, I awoke around 6 to take care of the dogs and run some errands before heading to the Tomato Fest. After errands, I decided to cook some breakfast, since I'd likely be drinking all day. I threw on some bacon and eggs, while sipping on the Beam.

After a couple Beams, I ran to the Quarter to get some creoles. I stopped at Lafitte's to see a friend and grabbed a beer. I didn't want to keep drinking Beam. It was too hot and I wanted to walk around.

While walking to the fest, we stopped in Molly's for Irish coffee and another beer.

I found the tomatoes and grabbed a box.

We then walked around the market to see what's been going on. The trinket area still sucks, but the food area looked impressive. I wasn't aware that St. James had a booth there, and the fresh seafood looked somewhat decent.

I checked around to see what food options the Fest had. I was disappointed to not see the tomato and crab salad I like.

Some baw got stuck making onion mums. Poor boy was tearing up all over the place.

I grabbed a watermelon bourbon drink from Black Label and headed down Royal. It was good, but it became too sweet midway through. I think I would have been satisfied with just the first three sips.

We grabbed a seat in the air conditioned bar at Amelie. I grabbed a rhubarb and rye and some baratta. Everything was great as usual.

The bartender even made me some version of a manhattan he'd been toying with. I enjoyed it.

On the way out, I grabbed a strawberry lemonade with vodka to stay hydrated and cool.

After strolling around Royal, I headed back to the Wank to get in the pool. Some gal was rushing to cross the bridge with me. I assume she was looking for Tigahrag, since them rollers were fresh and her car was standard OT material.

I stopped at Rouses to grab some shite beer and some meat to grill later that night. The pool was in good shape.

And the water temperature was just right. I played like a manatee for several hours.

After my dip, I took the meat out to get it to room temperature. I went with a ribeye; the lady wanted filet.

We made some veggie skewers.

I wasn't used to the grill and it got extremely hot. The meat came out a little more cooked than I prefer, but it was still delicious. It paired well with some fancy cabernet sauvignon I found in his cellar.

After dinner, we went to Michelli's for a drink. I threw on some R Kelly, which was not received well.

The VIP section looked inviting.

After several double Beams, I went with a caucasian for dessert. It tasted a little fishy.

On Sunday, I awoke to go to mass. After mass, I had a meeting which ran way too long.

I wanted to grab a small bite to eat and start pounding for the Tigers. I made it to Lafitte's around 12:30 and ordered a sandwich from Nola Poboys around the corner. I got a hot sausage patty on toast. It had way too much toast, and I had to remove the top piece.

I fell on my couch around 3:30 to watch the end of the game. I made a tomato sandwich and devoured it. It was very good.

After the game, I passed out for about an hour. I got up for dinner. I had a cookie filled with icing and a piece of key lime pie. The cookie about near put me into a coma. But it was worth it.

Stay fat, my friends.

Saturday always seems like a whole weekend to me. I was surprised when Sunday rolled around that the weekend wasn't already over for him.

Not sure if it was the ice or the milk. It had a fishy taste to it.

The cookies can be found in the bakery departments at Rouses. Be careful, they're rich.

I haven't been curious enough to stop .
El Paso obviously has some deep pocket investors. Those things are popping up all over the place.
