You are so correct Thanks for the advice! It's just hard to make my mind do it.
it was a real issue for me. I was thinking "damn i dont want to eat more, i will gain weight" but several other people smarter than me in the area started explaining it to me with how metabolism works. I tried it and have made huge strides in my body changing. As long as you are eating healthy foods "baked chicken, fish, turkey, green veggies, peppers, some fruits, and healyhy fats" you will be surprised at how well it works. You body needs carbs for fuel, to power through workouts.. some good carbs are not bad at all for you. Also healthy fats are much needed like nuts and such. If you are hitting a gym a few days and week, and are getting a workout in. Try upping those calories to 1500-1800 with good food, i bet you will start to see a change. Also alot of women are die hard about treadmills and elipticals and such, and afraid of weights.. get on the weights, you will not get big! You will put ok muscle that will burn fat while you sleep. Do squats and deadlifts, do pullups, do pushups, you dont have to go crazy with the weights. Just change some things up from what your doing now.

These bars spike my blood sugar and make me HUNGRY. Be careful since you are doing low-carb like I do.
Quest has been sued by consumers for incorrect (or misleading) nutritional profiles. It has 21 grams of carbohydrates. The fiber (17g) is isomalto-oligosaccharides. Research shows that this is partially digested so you are consuming more than 4 grams of carbohydrates per bar.

Epic Bars: Meat
I support this answer.
I do a bit of backpacking and have tried pretty much every brand of nutrition bar I've found. Though I will speak highly of brands like Cliff and Kind, the two that take the cake for me are Pro Bars and Epic.
Pro Bars were a on-trail favorite because they're lighter with more calories, but nothing beats the taste of Epic Bars.
I only discovered 'em within the past year once I moved to Austin (I believe they're based here?). I have a friend of a friend who was doing brand rep stuff for them, and the Epic bars are in a lot of stores here. I've liked all the ones I've had.

I prefer Larabars too.
The Quest bars give me digestion issues and I find the flavors to be very hit or miss.

Clif Builders Bar in Chocolate Mint is tops for me. Tastes like thin mint and it's got 20g of protein.
It's followed very closely by Clif White Chocolate Macadamia Nut

Yes they are. I eat 1 (sometimes 2) per day. I am a huge fan of these bars for weight loss and diet/calorie control.

Thunderbird bars are tGOAT
They have by far the best ingredients of any energy bar I've seen. Plus they taste delicious. The only downfall is depending on flavor some could be lower on protein than what you are looking for.
Thanks for this thread though I've been meaning to buy some bars and have been putting it off.

Before Thunderbird Energetica existed, one of its founders, Katie, had a problem to solve: she was training for the Ironman World Championships with a severely sore and inflamed knee, and she found that the artificial ingredients in so many available nutritional products only made it worse. She and her husband experimented with various ingredients to make their own bars with entirely natural ingredients that didn't provoke her injury, and the result turned into Thunderbird Energetica Bars. The rest, as they say, is history. So what's the connection between a knee injury and organic ingredients? The body requires proper nutrition to heal, to train, and to recover, and the synthesized proteins and sugars in lots of the products out there not only impede the body's ability to heal itself, but can irritate it in the process. Thunderbird Energetica bars are made from nature's most nutrient-dense ingredients, and being that each ingredient is entirely raw (never heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit), they retain all of the natural enzymes that are normally broken down when cooked. Your body can thoroughly utilize the entire bar, as opposed to the small percentage of the ingredients in many of the market's artificially-sourced bars. The bottom line: a small bar that packs a big punch. Thunderbird Energetica Bars are mostly fruit- and nut-based. They are sweeter in taste and have higher glycemic levels for a more immediate, less sustained boost of energy when compared to the company's line of Gather bars. Each bar comes in a 100%-compostable wrapper. All flavors are free of GMOs, agave, soy, gluten, and are vegan. Bars come in boxes of 15 and are available in six flavors: Sweet Lemon Rain Dance, Hyper Hawaiian Crunch, Cherry Walnut Crunch, Cashew Fig Carrot, Cacao Hemp Walnut, and Almond Cookie Pow-Wow.

Wait, which ones are you talking about?
When I lived in Laffy, I tried one or two. I remember grabbing one at Johnson's last time I was in town on the road from Texas to BR too. The ones I've tried are pretty good, but I don't see them sold out here in Texas.
Zydeco Nutrition Bars
quote:
Zydeco Bar was created as an alternative snack or breakfast food for on-the-go consumers who want not only nutrition and energy, but great taste. We incorporated many of the ingredients native to the South - sweet potatoes, pecans and molasses - which have been used in recipes for generations. The result is a bar rich in texture, vitamins, and nutrition - and one that provides a good source of fiber so often lacking in the diet of the on-the-go consumers.
The memory of sugarcane fields blazing orange-red on crisp fall evenings and the sweet smell of freshly pressed cane syrup drifting from the local mill inspired the creation of the Zydeco bar. The wholesome goodness of family, food, and celebration is woven into the social fabric of the Louisiana culture, and is in part, why we created the Zydeco Bar.
Anyone else want to vouch for these?

The FDA Would Love It If Kind Bars Could Stop Pretending They're Healthy

Specifically: “Your products do not meet the requirements for use of the nutrient content claim ‘healthy’ on a food label,” FDA compliance director William Correll said in a letter to the company made public today.
Under FDA regulations, only foods with less than one gram of saturated fat per serving can legally be branded as "healthy." Not a good look for the aforementioned Almond & Coconut, which comes with five grams per serving—more than a third of the American Heart Association's recommended daily intake.
