I have not lived in La for about 15 years. Do you know of any?

That was my point. I can't think of one.

When that place on Magazine next to NY Pizza that closed recently was the Courtyard Grill (a couple of years ago) it served Persian and Turkish cuisine. It was pretty tasty stuff.

Hard to believe a city like New Orleans does not have at least one Persian place.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the place on my one visit.
Vicci?

Of course, no place will survive in that dead zone.

Many that I know actually prefer to be called Persian.
But they aren´t, are they?

That´s like me preferring to be called Iberian.

Makes no sense (in 2015).

Probably so. I just figured the whole Persian Gulf drama we've had going on the last 20 years would enlighten most folks to the countries that encompass it.

No. Persian is a cultural/ethnic/linguistic moniker that still exists.

Mmmmmh, don´t know (not convinced).

I bet many of these people descend from people who didn´t want to be called Persian when the Shah was in power.....

Touchy subject. You'd better refer to the lang. as Farsi unless you want to start an argument. When I was taking courses in Middle Eastern Studies back in the 90s, our department still referred to the lang. as "Persian." That has since changed.

Well, Persians are an entirely different sub-group, at least by their DNA. Persians are not semitic people, they are of European ancestry. They used to be known as the Pars, or Aryans.

As an aside, have you ever studied the Kalash people? I find them fascinating.
