Will it ruin my egg? Does it leave any odor? Guy at Home Depot says it can get my egg up to coals in 1/5 of the time.

Well you are supposed to use only lump in ceramic grills. Did you not read your manual? What have you been using

This...

Buy Rockwood or wicked lump. If you’re in BR go to goodwood. They are about $25ish for a 20lb bag.

If you “have” to use Royal Oak make sure it says made in the USA on the bag.

If you’re referring to the red bag Home Depot runs a sale on for 12:99 for 20lbs or so, then yes you can use that in your ceramic.
FYI, those RO HD bags are loaded with rocks, chunks of brick and other debris so keep an eye out when adding to your grill. Typically they are filled with medium to smaller chunks of lump with a handful of large pieces. Like others mentioned, RO is BGE but BGE requires their bags to contain larger quantities of large to medium-large cunks of lump. So far all the bags of BGE I’ve purchased only had lump in them.

Rocks out of my last RO bag.

After many uses I've decided royal oak is shite. Way too small.

You have an egg and are using lighter fluid? Might I ask why? Just get some starters or a mapp torch. Don't use lighter fluid ever. It's just unnecessary.

After multiple relghts and having to add more coals to keep temp, I switched to kings ford and haven’t regretted the choice. I’m not a brand guy, but frick royal oak and pay for kings ford.

I took a propane hose, added a needle valve, then added a 12” section of 3/8 pipe with a drilled out grease zirk at the end. I get about a 12” flame going and bury it in the coals for 3-4 minutes. Works great.

I wanted to do something like that.
I usually just start the fire with a Mapp gas torch.

Get a Fish Gills plate to replace the plate in the bottom with the holes in it. Much better air flow.

Why on earth would you use lighter fluid? Get a torch or tumbleweeds or something.

Or get rid of the BGE get a real gril like a Primo...they don’t need fancy lighter fluids...I know a guy

Really tho...it says not to use lighter fluid at least for the primos.

I use royal oak all the time. I do end up with some rocks but no big deal. I’ll save larger chunks out the bag as I use it because it does have a lot of small in it. I’ll use the bigger chunks when I build for a low and slow cook. Otherwise I just dump it in and use fire to light the fire!
