Anyone ever have any good experience buying A5 Wagyu online?
I've looked at Crowd Cow and a few others

just curious if anyone on here has ever tried these outlets and what you thought of them

Ordered wagyu (american, not a5) from snake river farms on Friday. I’ll report back later this week.

As always the answer is Costco.

Lots of reviews on the site.

I've used Debragga and crowd cow multiple times. A4 olive wagyu is also phenomenal. Snake river farms American wagyu is not even close to the same thing as A5 wagyu.

Costco also sells American grown Wagyu but as noted it is not the same.

If you're going the online route, go with a trusted dealer. Allen Brothers.

I've purchased from Allen Brothers before as well, it was the legitimate A5 Japanese. You have to be careful because there is a lot counterfeit beef out there.

I can vouch for Allen Brothers. I haven't tried costco, but if you are looking for it in bulk, I dont have a reason I wouldn't trust them.

Not online but cooked a Wagyu Bavette from Raines Farm last night. Got it from piece of meat butcher. Incredible

no, which is why that $1200 costco slab is way too much meat

Out of curiosity, what cut of meat do y’all prefer for your a5 ?

Personally, I would choose the NY strip loin (top sirloin.)
The loin end ribeye would probably be the one with the most insane marbling. Not a steak that you would want to eat 16 ounces of. Crackin probably has less fat.
The Japanese slice them thin. Half-inch thick slices, seared quickly on each side is plenty of flavor.

i've had a5 twice, and neither time was it something i really wanted to have more than a few ounces of. the marbling is so rich, that it's really something best had as a sampler/sharable. Much different experience than eating a "normal" steak.

i just want to try some

there are a couple places here that have prime steaks but they don't look that great. i think the American "waygu" may be the best bet for a whole steak

I got some Wagyu A5 from D'Artagnan and was great. I also buy my turkeys from them.

I’ve had American wagyu ribcap at a couple different restaurants that I enjoyed far more than the a5 I’ve had. It’s also half the cost.

I attended a two day brisket seminar on the Aggy campus last month. They had a blind tasting of five briskets, all of them seasoned only with s&p and smoked exactly the same. The American Wagyu was the overwhelming winner among the five criteria were given to judge them on. They get their Wagyu briskets from A Bar N Ranch here in Texas. I've since ordered one for myself and it was an excellent experience...and the prettiest brisket I've ever seen. I'll definitely order from them again.

got my order from snake river farms, A+ shipping, packing, etc.

their filet/tenderloin American wagyu gold grade steak is one of the best steaks I've ever had.

also got the black grade, very good too, but gold grade clearly superior.

full disclosure- filet is by far my favorite cut of meat, with ribeye being second. I love the taste of a ribeye, but don't like too much fat

just placed an order on crowd cow for American wagyu, scheduled to arrive in 2 weeks. will report back.
