The briquettes seem slightly smaller as well.

Does 16 pounds of small briquets burn faster than 16 pounds of slightly larger briquets?

What weighs more, a pound of feathers, or a pound of lead?

I don't know the answer, but smaller briquets would have more total surface area given the same total weight, so... maybe?

I'm actually wondering if what I perceive is accurate. Are they smaller or not? Whether they are or aren't, might the individual briquettes be less dense, more infused with air?

I bought a bag of Rouses brand lump in a pinch on the way up to the camp. Holy crap does that stuff snap crackle and pop like fireworks on New Years Eve!

I agree lump charcoal is better, and the more expensive the longer burning and hotter it is.

There is know comparison when you consider that briquets is sawdust held together by chemicals.
