Any updates on the buds broiler morning call venue at the foot of canal?

I remember hearing about plans to put in a buds broiler and morning call into the lot next to Cask/bulldog. As soon as they turned it into a premium parking lot I have never seen anyone park in it and it’s just an empty lot. Have y’all heard any updates on the plans for it?

It was killed in committee. A lawyer who lives in Lakeview raised so much hell they just gave up.
Don't know what the plan is now.
(I took her name out on edit. She is the type to sue this site so its not worth it)

Can she sue if it's true?

Why would she want to kill a business going in? More money in the neighborhood.
Also, any updates on what’s going in the old buds across from Delgado?

That would be a terrible location for that venture. Parking is already shite and the intersection is a nightmare.

I thought the rapper Curren$y bought that location?

Yep... Anyone been to that winebar next to Bulldog? Is it the same owners of the bulldog and they tried to create a bayou beer/wine garden setup?

She is nuts. She opposes any new businesses, but this one she fought absolutely tooth and nail against and pretty much promised to fight them relentlessly. They just dropped it.

Friends,
It's really bothering me because I read "foot of Canal" and picture the Algiers Ferry and Canal Place. Clearly, that is not the geographic location being discussed in this thread. I've never heard the Mid-City portion of Canal called the foot. Have you?
I understand that Canal St and Blvd are technically not the same thoroughfare. But if we are going to use anthropomorphisms to describe Canal, shouldn't we call this area the "Waist of Canal"? If the Riverfront is the street's foot, shouldn't the bend near the cemeteries be the waist and its communication with Lake Pontchartrain be Canal's head?
Clarifyingly,
TulaneLSU

Why would the river be the foot of Canal? Isn’t the foot typically at a lower elevation that the head? Canal’s terminus in Mid City is at a lower elevation than the one by the river. This is one of the things that makes our city unique—in most cities the riverfront is the lowest ground.

From Ian McNulty on NOLA.com today:
quote:
Bud’s Broiler has plans underway to open a new location just a few blocks down the road, where City Park Avenue meets Canal Boulevard (see related story). Construction on that building is expected to begin this spring, pending permitting approvals. The same development is also slated to be home to Morning Call Coffee Stand, the historic beignet and coffee parlor.

Yeah looks like one of the sticking points for the attorney that opposed it was the scale of the project. It’s been paired down to just the two businesses so looks like it got approved.
