Anybody here distill their own liquor??

What kind of rig you run??

It's been 2 years since I've made any, and I'm thinking about pulling the old still out and getting back into it

My setup:
10.5 gallon stainless pot still
Copper worm (no thumper)
Electric heating element
7 gallon batches
Yields 1.5 gallons of 100-proof

I make shine, rum, brandy, and whisky

How much did your permit cost? How much per year to get it renewed?

Is there a limit on how much you can make?

Cool deal. CDub in town this weekend too, could get it then.

Know a guy (beekeeper) with some fire local honey. Caramalizes it, burns it very carefully.
Burnt honey mead.
Would drink.

Assuming you aren't a distiller licensed and bonded to produce alcohol for drinking, you just admitted to committing a federal felony on a public message board.

EDIT: Your shite any good or did someone go blind?

I dump the volatile alcohols with the heads, and cut the tails around 85... just good clean ethanol... so nobody is gonna go blind

I think it's pretty good... real clean liquor... no hangover, and it hits quick

I like to play with different woods for aging... made a great maple-pecan whisky that tastes like breakfast

I do a red oak rye for a complex spicy whisky that I really like

I agree, but to claim you have some sort of special permit is just bullshite. Everyone knows Federal law is that you cannot distill any spirits without the proper permits, and they sure as hell don't cost $100.
