I looked at a few threads from years past and, of course, the usual suspects are on everyone's list(Fleming's, Ruth's Chris, Ruffino's, Gino's, etc.) but I was wondering if there are any other recs for a good anniversary dinner.

in advance.

DiGiulio Brothers? We like that place more than Gino's. Nice atmosphere, good food.

i know people are sick of BR bashing comments, but i sure would consider going to new orleans instead for a special event dinner. you will have dozens of better options and thats just reality

She brought up DiGiulio Bros. a few days ago. I've only had it a few times and that was just pizza and Carbonara. When we eat Italian we usually do Pinetta's or Gino's. I did like the atmosphere in there the few times I went previously. Any recs on dishes?

I wanted to do Houma's House but I also wanted to stay the night which we can't do this year. Gonna try to do that next year.

The fried calamari is our go-to appetizer. It's really solid.
There's good bread -- it's a soda bread so it's cake like with a thick crust.
We usually get the chicken parm. It's better than the eggplant parm. They have good spaghetti and meatballs.
They have a lot of daily specials. They'll usually have two or three different apps and a couple of entrees, usually a fish dish.

My only problem there is sometimes I feel they rush you.

I like Mansurs, but you should request a table in the back or risk getting stuck in that hallway.

I recently have had some good meals at French Market Bistro and Kalurah Street Grill.

Nino's is another that is quite good and if you get a table in the corner, I think you could have a nice Anniversary dinner. Tell them of your special occasion and they will make everything special for you.

Have a nice time.

I agree with Kalurah Street. The inside is so much nicer than when it was Chelseas and the food I tried was very good. I think it would make a great anniversary spot.

If you go Digulio Bros, get a steak.

It's Houmas House not Houma's house. Sorry, I keep seeing people make this mistake and just wanted to help out.

And you got this wrong too but I think that was a typo.

I recommend Mansurs, French Market Bistro, Maison Lacour and Ruffino's.

I didn't have good experiences the 2 times I went to Houmas House.

You know, I've never heard anyone talk about this place other than on TD and it's raved about on here.

Nino's is a great date night restaurant. It has been one of our go-to's over the years when we have a night without the kids. Also, you can bring your own bottle of wine. We normally order a couple of cocktails while we look at the menu and they seldomly charge us a corkage fee.

Sorry for the corrections. I'm not an English teacher and didn't even like English in school!

I grew up in the AP, so I know it's Houmas House. That is all.
